Bumper capacity

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone uses a bumper hitch for a bike rack or flat storage grate? My main question is how much can an RV bumper hold in weight? (I'm sure this would be considered the tongue weight even though I would never actually trailer that way)

These bumpers will hold almost nothing. If you try to modify or reinforce them you will void your frame warranty.

I wouldn't put anything on there. I haven't read anything good about it either. I did have a 4-bike rack on mine (with 2 bikes) for a while. I had ratchet straps snugging them up to help with the bouncing. I kept a very close eye on them and the bumper. Towards the end of the second year I noticed some hair line cracks in the welds on the bumper mounts. That trip the bikes came home in the back of the truck and never went on again. Sometime in the future I will be mounting a hitch to the frame. Maybe then they will go back on.
