Never a good thing when an injector goes bad on the road!

Got back from central Minnesota recently after celebrating our mother's 100th birthday.

Unfortunately, while driving across I-90 near Mitchell SD, and visiting the Corn Palace, we lost a diesel injector and ultimately drove to Chamberlain at the Missouri River where we had hotel reservations.

A day and a half later, we were back on the road after the Ford dealer couldn't do the work for several weeks and didn't even stock replacement injectors.

After ordering the injector from the local Napa Auto so I could get it early the next day, we were back on the road by noon.

I've included the link from the FTE forum if interested.

To add from my last post, It would be interesting to learn what tools you feel you "have" to carry when traveling?
Trying to post pictures but something isn't working on the site right now so I will add later.
Here's some of the items I carry just in case...

The kit that I carry has my 3/8" and 1/2" torque wrenches, bungee cords, plus everything from vice grips, water pump pliers, drum brake tools for boat, torx bits, rtv, antii seize, silicone grease, flashlights, zip ties, cotter pins, 2 magnetic extensions, and JB Weld. Even having my 3/8" socket set and adapters with my metric deep sockets were a must. I even have a fine chain with a treble hook tied to the end...never know!
All worked pretty well too, when fixing a John Deere riding mower a few weeks earlier up in MN.

Small sae/metric socket set 3/8" and sae/metric wrench set. Various screw drivers, plyers, cutters, wire stripper, zip ties, electrical tape, eternabond tape, hose and flat washers, sheet metal screws, gator bites hose plugs. And a bunch of miscellaneous screws. A computer tablet to access manuals and help files. I'm sure there's more but this is the main stuff.

Not sure why I can't edit, nor add pictures right now?
Made a mistake on indicating we were on I-80 when indeed it was I-90.
Don't dare to try and add pictures as it kicks me off the site and unregisters me.
Well, now I see I can edit this post. Can the posts only be edited for a certain amount of time?

Edit only lasts a short period of time, not sure how long. If you need an edit after that period, contact a moderator for help.

BTW changed I80 to I90
