Suggestion for new Truck Tires
It's time for us to replace our '08 Dodge Ram 2500 truck tires. It's a 4 door crew cab with a 6 ft. bed. Currently it has BF Goodrich LT245/R17/E on it. Looking for recommendations. These were dependable and run about $195-$245. We're wondering if we should stick with the BF Goodrich, or if there is something cheaper, but just as dependable. We welcome all suggestions.

Michelin LTX AT2’s. I’ve had them on my last three trucks and currently have them on my new to me 13 Sierra 2500. I got 176k kilometres out of the last set with yearly rotation. They’re quiet, don’t hold a lot of stones and pretty decent on snow covered roads.

176,000 kilometres on a set of truck tires? That's pretty amazing tread wear

I and some friends prefer the Firestone Transforce LT tires. Good wear, long lasting not too bad a price.

Yep, I was impressed. Only changed them as the summer towing season was coming. Didn’t want to risk it.

Hi Mark, I'm also looking for new tires on my F-150.
I am looking at the Firestone Transforce, and there are a few models, but none listed as Transforce LT. There is H/T, AT2, AT, HT2 and CV.
Which model do you like and recommend?
I tried Cooper LT tires, from the factory Goodyear, and the tire wear was just horrible at 40k for an 80k tire.

I agree, the Michelin are great tires. Put them on my last truck and they last long and ride well and they came on the new truck.

I just replaced my stock original tires with the BF Goodrich all-Terrain T/A tires. The ride is much better and great traction.

I’ve owned a couple sets of the Firestone Transforce LTs and they have outlasted any other tire I have owned. I typically get 60-70k miles out of them, they are quiet, good snow and mud traction, and reasonably priced.
I’d get 10 ply, regardless of what you decide upon. My F250 came with 8ply tires and they got beat up pretty bad on the front. Never had that problem with the Firestone 10 ply.
Of course I’m sure Michelin and BF Goodrich make a quality comparable tire.

I have the Firestone tires on my 2005 Silverado 2500 HD diesel and they seem to work fine. Of course travel is way down because of the pandemic.

I’m running Michelin’s LTX A2s 10ply on my 2013 Chevy 2500HD. I recently put my 4th set on the truck at 175,000 miles. I live down 4 miles of gravel road, so my mileage is not as good as it could be. But, they run quiet and I have only had one flat from a screw. They are a bit more expensive but dependable.

I currently have Michelin LTX AT2’s. They have 62,000 miles on them with 9/32 tread left. My only issue with them is for an all-terrain tire, they look more like a car tire. I want something more aggressive looking when it’s time to replace. My next set will be Toyo Open Country AT 3’s.

I was all set to go with the Firestones, and come to find out they aren't available in my size, 275/55R20.
It's tougher to find load range E tires in that size. I wish the kid that I bought the truck from hadn't swapped rims because 'they look cooler'.
I'm looking at the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3.. anyone had any experience with those?

Michelin. A little pricey but worth it.

I find the Michelin to be a good tire too, but the Michelin LTX AT2 is the new generation of LT class tires, not a P rated tire, but not quite a Light Truck tire, rated at 113T load rating, which is load rating D.
I was hoping for a E rated, 10 ply rated tire.

All mine have been E rated 10 ply tires. Are 10 ply not available in your size? Mine were 275-65R-18. Factory tires were 265-65R-18. Speedometer was barely affected.

I saw 114T rating for your size, at several sources. That is not a true 10 ply tire, but it does have a nice high load rating.
I put 117T rated tires on last, and they worked well, but I'm not happy with the tire wear.
Mine are 275/55R20, and yes, it's harder to get truck tires for the 20" 'sport' rim.

Mine were 123T rated. I no longer have that truck but my Sierra 2500 has the LTX AT2’s also. They are LT 265-70-18’s with 124 rating LRE

Have you looked at Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus tires. I put them on my last truck as nobody near me had stock on the LTX AT2’s I wanted. They had no idea when they were getting stock either. I don’t have long term experience but tires were quiet. My buddy has on his Ram 3500 and has had zero issues. They are good wearing for him.
