Tongue Weight on Sunset Trail Reserve 29SS?

I just purchased a new Sunset Trail Reserve 29SS yesterday, only thing is, it's about 1,200 miles away from me. We have decided to make it a little adventure out of it and meet the delivery half way and camp our way back. I had bought an Equalizer hitch 1000/10,000, as we had planed to buy a different trailer that had much less TW. Does anyone have an actual loaded tongue weight of their 29SS? I know that what one person carries maybe different than the other, but just trying to get a general idea if everyone is over the 1000 mark. I am starting to think that I will need the 1200/12,000 hitch. Thanks for the help.

I can't help with your question. All I can add is make sure you do a thorough PDI., and that will be hard to do meeting them half way. It's better done at the dealers lot before taking delivery and/or giving them any money. There has been some horror stories posted here after people have done just what you are proposing.
I suggest making the adventure a little longer and going all the way to the dealer. You're spending a lot of money.

Here is one.

Your 1,000/10,000 is the appropriate hitch for that unit. Dry tongue weight is only 738 and max GVWR is 9,538, Dry weight is 6,284. I used to tow a TT for years and had the Equal-I-Zer hitch. The way they are designed you do not want to go significantly oversized. Just make sure it is set up properly or it will not do its job. The most important thing is to take the time to set up the hitch right.

Sorry about the late reply. My 2013 29SS (loaded for camping) tongue weight is 1,050 lbs. I have a Shurline scale that I used when I had a 1/2 ton and had to be a lot more careful on loading.

My CT29RLX has a tongue weight of 1060lbs. That is loaded without water.

I would go with 1200 lb bars. my TT is 5700 dry and 7000 lbs loaded. I have close to 1000 lb tongue weight. You will probably be heavier than me. Figure on ideal tongue weight bring 13-15% of loaded TT weight.
