I second that. I have 7K miles towing on my Ecoboost. It's amazing.

Had a rough ride and sagged a little when hooked up so I installed added air bags and made a big difference when empty and kept the truck level.
Smooooth.

Recently traded my 05 Ford FX, 5.4L for an F250 with 6.7. to handle 5er. I am LOVING the 6.7....am getting close to 15.5 mpg city and over 17 unloaded and moving. I am hoping to get at least 12mpg tugging CR32bl. Anybody have any input on aftermarket ECM chips. I am looking at cold air intake and a Bullydog programmable adaptor module.

You are gonna love that 6.7 & new tranny !!! It's a towing dream...

MUCH discussion on ford-trucks.com related to tuning....
and while I tuned everything, and I mean, EVERYTHING before these 6.7's,
I haven't felt the need to do either of the new ones...

Not sure why that is other than they do fine stock and really don't want to tune it yet --- 2nd year engine and want it to establish it's longevity before I change it !
not sure of your pin wgt, but the 250 needed airbags for our tow wgt...
and since we upgraded 5er, the 350 has airbags now...

good luck and hope your 6.7 is as good as ours !

Air bags

LeBo,
I have wanted to install air bags on my unit. Did you just use air shocks or did you use those Firestone dual air bags? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Jim

Firestone Air Bags. Better than air shocks as you can level tow vehicle and trailer for better towing. Remember that is their purpose ,not so you can carry heavier pin weight.
Some folks add an onboard compressor for convience. Depends on preference and wallet they are not difficult manually. There are other choices available online. You can install the Firestones youself if your handy.

My rear end took a crap on me and just dropped a grand on seals, brakes, rotors, and calipers, and a brake line. Just had to vent, now I feel better.

Anyways...I asked about air bags vs the loadmaster. He said I had a "heavy" 1/2 ton and should really only require a heavy duty shock. Just curious about your thoughts. Never heard of a "heavy 1/2 ton".

He said if I brought TT with me they would try the shocks and if that did not work they would take them off and install either the air bags or loadmaster and get me level.

The term 1/2 ton does not apply to a lot of the trucks on the road now..some of the "1/2 tons" are speced like the older 3/4 tons. So I guess you could say they are heavy duty, especially when some of the 1/2 tons can carry over 2200 lbs in their beds.

Sounds like they are pretty confident the shocks will work. I am sure you agreed to a price upfront on all product choices especially if they say they wiil take them off.
Let us know how it works out.

I hate to be a skeptic, but, I don't know that shocks will/can help your situation. Unless they have come up with something different in shocks then what I'm use to. I think it will require something more then that.

I put the current shocks on about 3 yrs ago. I went with a "middle of road" shock. I will explore it more in month or so.

For those interested in airbags, I just stumbled on a $100 rebate from Airlift for the bags and compressor... nice little find since I was doing bags anyway. The WirelessONE with remote control works like a champ !

Only issue I have, and it's really not a problem, just a quirk...
When hooking up or unhooking the 5er, if I don't drop the bags to 5 psi, the auto level compressor will come on and try to adjust the truck height WHILE I'm trying to hitch up
