I'm looking forward to working on this mod this weekend. Also going to take some measurements to build some shelves in the closet.

I have done steaks, burgers, brats, and chicken on it. Also found a griddle that fits and do bacon, eggs, and even pancakes on it. I have found it gets to hot on anything other than low.

That's cool - do you know which griddle you have that fits on there? Did you have to remove that rear warming grate?

I don't remember the brand. I bought it at WalMart. It fits under warming grate. Covers entire grill surface and is Teflon coated.

Thank you. Maybe I'll get some measurements and make a trip over to walmart!

Started on my replacement grill project.

The link below should take you to an album.
https://goo.gl/photos/e8J9MnBUoMZDb9yw9

Material (so far):
1 48" Stair tread
1 48" 1.5"x1.5" aluminum edging

Luckily the 48" tread gives me 2 shelves. The first half is the sacrificial sample.

Good job, looks good, could almost l double as a cutting board. Is it secured underneath or solely by the 2 holes in the wood?

Solely by the 2 holes but its long enough to sit on the middle joint, across the 2 arms.
Originally I had planned to use a length of electrical strut Superstrut 10 ft. 12-Gauge Strut Channel Electro-Galvanized Finished-ZA12HS10EG - The Home Depot
and mount it to the board, to let it slide over the arm, limiting tilt. But the gap in the channel isnt wide enough. Will have to find another way to brace the board.

And yeah, I'd thought of using a nice butcher block section. It would look good but i was limiting cost on the V1.

Made by Coleman. Saw it today at WalMart in the camping section.

like the custom job...I also have the OEM grill, and a weber Q from my previous camper, would like to use the Q more, Did you find special quick connect to attach the Q to the propane from the camper?

There's lots of videos on the conversion on YouTube. Basically you can remove the regulator from the Weber, add a male adapter, and hook right to the campers LP gas.

As I recall the RVQ grill has the right male connector. Going to remove it and use it on the Weber.

Failing that theres this: Weber Q Conversion Kit

I still think this a good grill. I am on my third year with it now. I only paid about $140 for mine shipped and modified the arm so that it fits on the stock bumper bracket.
Well come to think of it this grill has lasted for 3 years and has been on 3 campers. I still got the new one that came on the Rezerve, but the cast iron plate in the camco grill helps equalize the temperature some. So I'm not using the other one yet.

That camco looks like a pretty promising unit. What all was involved with the adjustments to fit the existing bumper mount?

I see it on Amazon without that mounting bracket; just wondering if that's necessary.

Thanks!

The last part of the arm has a thru hole where it bolts to the other arm. The camco was about 3/8 narrower. So I had to grind the hole into a slot. So when I bolted the arm back together the arm now will slide in and out about 3/8 of an inch.

That doesn't seem like a bad mod anyways - getting that stock grill off and on there is a bit of a frustrating exercise...

I modified the Weber gas input tonight. Took off the regulator, put the male connection from the RVQ grill on the valve. Hooked it up, pressure test passed, no leaks found.

Fired up the grill and I'm not sure I've got enough pressure. The flame on the Weber is a low blue flame when on high. I'd say its less than 1/2 inch high. I've got it heating now, well see how hot the grill can get.

You may be able to enlarge the orifice if you are not going to go back to the other set up.

After about 15 minutes the grill hit 490 degrees. From what I can find on the web, this is in spec. Cool.

Tomorrow we build V2 of the stand.

The Weber control has a safety feature that needs time for the gas pressure to stabilize when the gas supply is first turned on. Wait a few moments before opening the valve to light the burner. Weber's website has this info. When operating in the safety mode the grill won't reach a high temp. The flow is controlled by the regulator on the grill or the rv regulator, both regulators have this feature. This prevents high flow in the event of a leak. http://help.weber.com/faqs/3/my-lp-g...han-250-to-300. This is the Weber link about the issue.
