great mod that opens up options for less expensive grills instead of the camping world stuff.

They have to come off so you can close the swing arm.
John, did you notice how heavy the grill lid is? I had to secure the grill to the board in order to stop it from tipping back off when the lid was up.

Yes you need to take them off. 12"X 24" on mine I just went out and opened the lid I really have to push on it to get it over. The weight of the cast Iron grill keeps mine down. If I put the griddle on it also really holds it. But I can see how it could happen. Originally I was going to just drill up into the feet and run a SS screw in it. But didn't need to but Let me think on this I may find a better way to clamp it. Might want to end up with a locking cable to keep it from walking to the next guys camper LOL.

I have a strap with clips, like from an old over the shoulder notebook computer bag, that I ran under it. Connected to the back lip of the shelf, under the shelf then to the plastic X where it say Weber.
We wont use a griddle on ours, we have the outdoor kitchen stove to use for that.

For my board I bought a 48X12 stair tread. Its pine and cost $12. I was able to get 2 shelves from it. One as a test, then 1 as a final. If this one gets trashed I'll move up to a nice Oak stair tread.

Looks good John! I like it.
Better be careful tho. You load that baby up with bacon and jacks, you might tip the camper up.

Seriously, what time is breakfast?

Using the ideas of johnwill and Burgy, I finally got around to making a table for my OEM grill mount after purchasing a Weber Q 1200.
I used a cutting board from Bed Bath and Beyond, around $30. Cut scraps of 2x4 for the braces.
I thought about screwing in the braces so the board top was "clean" but decided through bolts with nut and washers was more secure. It does not wobble thanks to the tight fit and 2inches of brace to match the arm.
I will probably use a strap to hold the Weber down. That way I can use it as a table, grill mount, or cutting board.

Looks good Kingfish.
Just asking, not slamming you...Is there a reason for the bolts on top to not be countersunk like the underside?

I had some concern about the strength of the cutting board due to the thickness and laminated planks. I wanted to preserve the full thickness, and reinforced it with the fender washers and the cross board underneath. I may have been a little more concerned with that aesthetic if it didn't already have the two black posts already poking through.

I'm sure someone who actually knows what they are doing with wood might have a better solution.

Here's a pic with the grill. I'll use a bungee to hold it down. Also, The Weber is a BIG upgrade from the OEM grill.

Up date: I have to say we Love the Weber grill now. That stand I made has been holding up nice. I have had no issues with it. No wobbles and no way of it tipping. I do recommend upgrading the grill. Nice thing I can take it off and replace the regulator and take it in the truck for a day at the park. That grill is worth the money.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but what I found that will extend the life of the grill is to use "grilling mats". I think food tastes better using these because juices are retained. No clean up of the grill. Only the cleaning of the mats in soap and water.

I like your wood piece. Curious, you are using the arm assembly that Crossroads put on your rig? I ask because I don't have an arm assembly. I want to purchase one and am contemplating between a few. I looked at your pictures but I'm confused what the underneath side of the table looks like. How does the steel piece you added get applied and the purpose?

I just purchased a Smoke Hollow VT280RDS Smoking Tabletop 3 burner gas grill for my TT. The foot print is a little larger than what you all are using but I want to use your idea only use a bigger wood platform. I'm thinking of using the steel as a rudder type to keep it firm underneath and steady the tabletop.

I found this thread because I am trying to figure out what size male to get for the quick connect female attached to my TT. I've heard 1/4" and 3/8". Do you know?

Oh and did you try the grill mats? How were they?

Has anyone manufactured a conversion to mount a Coleman Roadtrip LXE grill to to the rear bumper swing arm? The black grill that came with the camper quit working last month. Bought the LXE for two burner option and indirect cooking. also has griddle options. would like to be able to mount it on the swing arm.
