Securely Storing our new TT

We will be picking up our new Sunset Trails 254RB next Tuesday. After a few days in our driveway for our initial loading we will be storing it on a secure storage lot. My question is what kind of lock system should I use to prevent someone hooking onto my rig and driving off?

I cut the threads off an old hitch ball and lock the ball in the coupler.

Now that a good idea. All you can do is put a good lock on it really! If someone really wants to steal it their going to find a way. Could also use one of those tire boot locks I guess.

I would be more concerned about them breaking into the trailer, trashing it and stealing what they wanted rather then stealing the whole trailer from a secured lot. Is the storage lot fenced and gated?

Ask the storage facility if you or they are responsible for theft/damages on their lot, most likely they aren't, so be sure it's locked up & secure as possible so YOUR insurance doesn't have an excuse to not cover any loses.

You can't insure somebody else property. So it will fall on you to have your stuff insured.

Yes it is, Lloyd. As a matter of fact, a large local RV dealership stores their brand new units there (big class A's, top of the line B's, etc.). so I don't think they're going to target my rig!

That is a great idea! If someone really wants it, they will get it. I'm more concerned about contents. The locks and deadbolts aren't fort knox, but again, if they want in they will get in. I'd recommend not leaving the TVs or any other high cost items in the unit if you are concerned. Anyone I've known of who has been broken into has lost booze and electronics. They also had to deal with repairing how they got in. One person I know didn't realize they had been broken into for a couple weeks and the door had been left open. The floor and everything just inside the door had been soaked with rain.
