profile picture and avatar

For my avatar, I have a picture of our rig. I tried to upload a profile picture, but it did not work. I am not clueless, I uploaded the picture and it failed.

I see some people have a map of the U.S. with states they have visited colored in. Where do you get that, how do you update the states visited, and how do you put it on your profile?

Customizing your account, subscriptions

You can change various settings in your member account. To access your account, click "user CP" on the upper navbar.

From the left side menu in your user control panel, you can add a signature, upload an avatar (the picture beside a post), change your account information and your forum interface. After any change, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'save'.

The common problem uploading a photo is they are too large.

If your photo fails to upload, try reducing it's size.

I got the U.S. visited map, put it as my profile picture, and when I click save changes, it says upload failed. This is a very small file, about 14.2 kb. Are there any other reasons this should fail?

Your profile pix successfully uploaded.

Click on your username, view public profile and the Visited States map is your profile pix.

I did that, the map came up, it says it's my profile picture, but when I go back to the forum, I don't see it on my posts.

A profile pix only displays in your profile.

There are 2 types of photos that display every time you post.

1. Avatar; it's on the far left of your posts under your username.

2. Signature; It's part of your signature at the bottom of your posts.

Thank you! It's all about the wording! I didn't know it was called a signature picture.
