Sunset trail water heater problem!

We just bought a 2007 sunset trail by crossroads. We love it but are on our first camping trip and cannot figure out how the hot water heater works!!!! I'm over taking cold showers! Can someone please walk me through it? Thanks so much!

If you just got it, might it still be in winterized mode and the water heater is bypassed? Check the drain plug and make sure there is water in it. If you turn on the electric heater and the tank is empty, you will likely burn out the heating element. First thing I would check is for water in the tank, second would be to see if the valve to bypass the heater is in the winterized position.

I had a similar problem and it was solved by putting the valves in the right position. It was kind of embarrassing because I made a big deal about it , but hey - you live and learn. someone a while back posted some pictures of the proper valve positions, so you may want to search on it. There was also a great suggestion to take pictures of winterized positions and working positions, print it and put it in the tank area for future reference. With my terrible memory, I plan on doing that if I ever remember to take the pictures.

I just remember "VW" on my heater valve handle positions. Vertical=Winter.
