Looking at buying this model. Are there any known problems with it or with Crossroads 5th wheels in general? I read about some problems with plastic cable housing under the slides, and of Swintek problems and mention of a recall, but couldn't find anything about this year on a recall.

Hello and Welcome!

When looking at a 12 year old camper you have to look at its past rather than the brand. How well did the previous owner/owners take care of it? Was it well maintained? Does it have a lot of miles traveling or did it spend its life on a permanent site? Is it at a dealer or a private sale?

If you do decide to buy it be sure to check that everything - stove/refrigerator/water heater/ furnace/ air conditioner/water pump/converter/and battery all work. Check the roof on the main body and the slides. When was the last time it was cleaned and treated. Most have a 12 year life so something to think about. Also check the tires. Not only the condition but check the date on the sidewall.

As for the slides it looks like it has the Lippert thru frame slides for the kitchen and living room and the in bed slide in the bedroom. Check their operation listen for any strange noise or excessive squeaks.

Referring to if it has a lot of miles have them repack the wheel bearings and check and adjust the brakes.

With it being 12 years old the wire support under the slide probably has been fixed already.

With all this said if it was well cared for and maintained it should be a good camper. My cruiser is 15 years old and still in very good condition. And it was a lot more affordable then a newer one.

One last thing. If it is at a dealer try to get a 30 day warranty that will allow you to check everything out . All they can do is say no and you are no worse off.

Good luck!

That was very good, sound, and thorough info and advise that dagst1 has given.

I echo it.
Good luck and welcome aboard!

Speaking from experience....
-search online for RV PDI. Give you really good info what to look at and where to look.
-I didn't go under my RV when purchasing. Wish I did. The complete belly has been cut into. When I contacted dealer just to find out what was done. They wouldn't tell me. (And I know they did the work!)
- I also found all the sealants were cracked around landing gear. Not sure if this is normal but it concerns me.
-When ever you buy a used RV. Just repack the bearings, don't take anyone's word for it.

There is a PDI list in our document section at the top of the page.
