Whether you are buying from a dealer or a private party, you want to make sure everything works. Also you will want to check for any water intrusion in the unit. Water leaks will kill an RV faster than anything else.

Here is a link to a PDI list.

To add to what Lloyd said have them show how everything works. If you are a seasoned camper or this is your first one have them show you how to turn things on and how they operate. On the lines of water intrusion check under each window for any soft spots. Also when walking the floor be sure it feels solid. Check in the upper cabinets for any discoloring - signs of a water leak. Also if it has been painted that is a old trick to hide water spots.

Follow the pdi and if you have any more questions just ask. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Not much more to add other than check the roof. It can get brittle along the edge that folds down. I had a 2013 ZT260BH and liked the layout for us and the two boys. Sold it this year for a fifth wheel.
Welcome!

660... Thumbs up on roof. Been camping in trailers a long time... Helped my Dad build our first when I was about 8. I've had 3 of my own now and when purchasing our current about 4 years ago I did very good due diligence except get on the roof. When I got home with her and went up to put up the radio antenna I found the roof to be substantially nonexistent for about a 2 foot radius. Needless to say disappointed, costly, and time consuming. Educational opportunity for an old man is Always demand to get up on the roof of a used unit and make sure it's sound!

When I helped a neighbour to buy a camper I took an extension ladder with us. Not all campers have a ladder.

Good point. Also everyone else had good pointers. If you know anyone that’s a seasoned camper owner. Maybe take them with you.

Agree with the water leak issue. Replace and upgrade the seals on the outside storage area doors. Leaks on them caused me to replace a lot of flooring and insulation.
