Check into a set of Bilstein shock absorbers. They do a lot for controlling the truck. Not that expensive, lifetime warranty. Autozone carries them, as does other vendors. If you still have the oem shocks on that truck it would be like night and day. The oem shocks that came on our 2500HD were not even within 30% as good as the Bilsteins are. With your truck, you would not need the 5100 series Bilsteins, the plain yellow heavy duty ones would be fine.
I am a firm believer in setting the suspension up on the tow vehicle to be as best as it could be. Back when I was in high school, and shortly there after (I graduated in 75) everyone was into jacking their car up but I was into handling. I learned how to make cars handle and drive in more than a straight line and that carried over into my present day trucks.
Besides putting Bilsteins on our truck, I swapped out the oem front sway bar for a heavy duty Hellwig one and added a rear sway bar also from Hellwig. Lets say my truck will handle almost as good as a car does, actually better than most.
I have found that not having to fight the truck makes it less tiresome to drive and I actually pulled our old 28 footer thru one of the hurricanes that made it all the way up here to Ohio a few years back. Having all the equipment on the truck, plus the sway control between the truck and trailer and a load leveler helped get through that mess with no issues.
