I had another brand of expandable (also known as a hybrid or HTT) for five seasons.
Reasons for: lightweight so it can be towed with smaller vehicle, moving the beds "outside" of the trailer really frees up floor space (even in a smaller unit), you still get the "camping feel" by sleeping under the canvas but get the convenience of heat/air conditioning/bathroom onboard.
Reasons against: Sleeping on the canvas bunkends means you will hear everything in the campground if you are a light sleeper, shorter camping season since they are hard to heat in colder weather, set up/breaking camp requires you to make the bed(s) each time, many people have trouble with the bunkend doors eventually leaking or warping.
I knew all of these reasons (with the exception of trouble with the bunkends)before I bought mine and really enjoyed it. The main reason we traded it in were the bunkend doors were starting to warp. Eventually this would lead to major water leaks and damage.
