Newbie buy or not?
I sold the pop up, and was going to buy a 2014 CrossRoads Sunset Trail 30RE.
But after reading this forum the last couple of days and hearing all the problems people are having with there TT( fading paint, leaking slide outs, stuck slide outs, bad pumps, wiring , plumbing, staple pops, etc...). I am second guessing to make the purchase. These TT are not cheep and I do not want to buy one just to hall it to the dealer for work. Whats a fella to do?? |
Are you ordering one or buying off the lot? If ordering, you will be getting a 2015 and they have corrected some of the issues like the fading paint and slide issues. I have a new SF32RL that i am waiting to be delivered to the dealer (hopefully in the next day or two, been waiting 4 weeks for the transport company). Suppose to be leaving on Vacation on Thursday with the new camper. That's when I will find out if they got their act together otherwise I will not be a happy camper. :censored: Good luck with your decision and wish you the best of luck.

A lot of these issues have been on the older models. they since been addressed and taken care of.
I.m not saying there isn't, or won't be new issues, but no matter what you decide to purchase you will have issues. I'm sure some of the owners of this particular model will chime in here eventually. |
My 2013 ST29SS has had no real issues. People tend to voice complaints more often than compliments.
|
I have had some minor problems. But if your a home owner do you do some of the repairs yourself? If so this will be similar stuff. If you have someone come in a repair everything this may be a big shocker. Unless I have some major repairs in the first year to change my mind no regrets so far.
A friend at work bought a new Jeep. It has been in the shop 3 or 4 times now. The head needed replaced, the air conditioning broke, and something else. I bought a truck with 200,000 miles on it and it just keeps going and going. If you like the model, floor plan and price buy it. You will always hear more problems then compliments on the Internet. |
Most people post complaints and not compliments. Just the way life is.

Have to agree, no one gets worked up over everything just working. Purchased early this spring our 320BH and cannot be happier. Few small items I fixed myself but nothing that cost me more than $2 to fix :)
|
I just got our new ST32RL and everything been ok. Look it over and only seen one spot on the rear corner seam that could used more sealant. Dealer sending me a tube ( I like to do these thing myself ). Other then that we haven't found anything. Waiting for our first trip out in two weeks..

We purchased 2014 Z1 270BH and so far we love it. We upgraded from a popup as well. Have been out on two trips so far with no issues. you will love not being in a "tent".
|
We bought a 2013 30RE and even though we have only used once we love it! We came from a 27ft with no slide so we find this new one to be so roomy. Coming from a pop up you will love it. Just like others have said if you do your own home repairs you will be able to take care of all the little things that come up.

I concur we bought a ST 270BH and we love it. There were some minor issues that I would have fixed myself but it is under warranty let them do it. My biggest issue was the black tank flush but that turned out to be a kinked hose. No issue really. Knowing what I know now I would still make the purchase.

Thanks for all the replies

We've had some issues with our 2012 300BH, but overall love the trailer. My take is you can't get a lightweight trailer and not deal with lighter, cheaper parts that can and will break.
As far as Crossroads, I've always been happy with customer service. |
Had my new TT for about a month now. I had the usual minor issues (i.e. Trim falling off, adjustment issues with the screen door) but nothing major until today. As I posted in the Z-1 forum, my metal siding is bulging out. Once warranty work is approved, camping world told me it will be in the shop for 'about' (about is a loose term in the rv repair world) two weeks. I'm expecting a month. They need to pull all the siding off as the bottom pieces fit underneath the upper pieces and this bulge is near the top. I'm praying it is just a matter of a piece of metal being to long and being pushed on during transport and not something much more serious. Overall though, I love my TT and am happy with the purchase, price, layout, and quality. I may have a different take on things though in about a month if this siding thing goes south....

One more thing to add..
I've always had good luck calling Crossroads direct and getting warranty parts direct. I'm not aware how many manufacturers will do that, but they've sent me parts with instructions I did myself without he time and cost of dragging the trailer to the dealer to fix a $5 part. |
They won't ship parts direct anymore.
|
Keep in mind, whether Crossroads, Jayco, or any other brand, many of the problems people have is an industry wide quality control issue.
We purchased CR a second time because the quality was there in our first TT (a 2011-12), and seems to be there in the second unit. Based on forum lurking, CR also will step up to the plate if there is an issue. Many other brands do not (keep this in mind). |

Well that is a revolting development for me, Terry told me he could not ship me any parts even though I sent photos etc. per his instructions. They must like you better than me.
|
Sometimes I think it's who you talk to, or thier mood of the day. BTW, this was about a month or so ago, so I don't know if the policy has changed since them.
