It would be a simple matter to get a length of key stock and wrap it around the sidewall at the end of that tube. That is what I did when I made an extension for a previous hitch.

This is what I use.
I believe it's a 5in. plastic/composite corner post. I hinged the cap on one end and made a door out of it. Attached it with handy strap under the trailer from side to side....
