We have been contemplating hitting VIR. It's not too far from us. I think DH and I would do ok dry camping at a track but not sure how much my 7yr old dd would enjoy it.

You can leave water in your tank. We always kept our fresh water tank at least 1/3-2/3 full. We sanitize it yearly. You should be fine to fill it at home unless you are worried about weight. ...
