Yes , that helps to stop the twisting. If you buy a bolt on bumper hitch ,have a welder add a few inches to it and use angle brackets to attach to cross member on frame,if possible.

I have a bumper hitch on mine but use eyescrews...

I have a bumper hitch on mine but use eyescrews screwed into the corners of the trailer to stabilize the bikes from bouncing. I use ratchet straps and they do not move , thus not flexing the bumper.
