I agree, it should warrantied but I'm a fulltimer & couldn't leave it with a dealer for 6 weeks for a $4 repair.
If you're is like mine the crack will either open up or close once connected.

Others have had it crack at a 45 degree angle & the repair was the same. The H trim I found was in 8' pieces & I just trashed the 7 1/2' I had left, but it was only like $4 for the piece.
