Check valve?

I own a 2012 Crossroads RV tt and have tried using the water pump but everytime I turn on the water pump seems like it's sucking against a deadhead. is there a check valve that keeps the city water from filling the fresh water tank that is not opening possibly? And if so how do you access this check valve? I have a line on the suction side of the pump that is open to atmosphere and I use it for my winterization I tried sucking on it and it feels like there is not an open on the other end that it's sucking against a deadhead.

If your on city water you leave your pump OFF. Your water tank has a breather hose that is also near the tank/fill . You fill the tank from outside with your garden hose after you just unhooked it from your city water, lol.

The fill hose should be shut off after winterizing. There should be a shut off valve that goes back to the h2o tank. You close when winterizing and open it when you're done.

At least that how mine is plumbed.

I understand, if the valve is shut off from the pump to the h2o tank, you will not get any water. Check to see if you have this valve. If not, sounds like a check valve problem.

That's also how my Sunset Trail is plumbed.

Do you have 2 water tanks like mine and need to switch tanks ( down near the winterizing hose)?

There is a one way valve at your city fill connection. This keeps water from flowing out on the ground when using just the pump. There is also a one way valve at the pump to keep the water tank from filling up when on city water.

When I need to switch tanks, my water pump moans of howls distinctively to remind me to switch.
