Osage hills campground oklahoma

Osage hills campground is located in osage county oklahoma, 9 miles from pawhuska and the home of the pioneer woman and 17 miles from bartlesville oklahoma where phillips 66 was founded by frank phillips, the location of frank phillips mansion and the price tower built by frank loyd wright. it is also 16 miles from wolaroc the summer home of frank phillips.

The mansion and price tower are interesting and worth the visit if you have time, i have not been to the pioneer woman mercantile yet, but Wolaroc is one of my favorite places to visit. there is a museum a petting zoo, an art gallery, and a food concession. twice a year they hold a mountain man rendezvous. they are pet friendly and offer a military discount.

Now for the campground. it is small only 19 rv sites, but they also have cabins, book early they fill up. there is a swimming pool it cost three dollars each to use. there are hiking trails that lead to small waterfalls and bluffs. there is also a lake that you can use kayaks canoes and other non motorized boats on. they have a few available for rental. The park office is open daily until 430 and they sell ICE. the park rangers patrol often and we actually had one come through on foot. campsites on the outer loop offer more shade. the gates lock at 10pm you can get out but not in after that.

the park is clean and relaxing but this park is close to bartlesville and gets some day use, we woke up sunday morning to a 5k that was routed through the campground, so we tortured the participants with the smell of bacon and eggs cooking as they jogged by. all the rv spots are flat concrete pads but some have the water and electric hookups on the wrong side. this seemed a little odd. a couple of the spots would have needed a 30 foot hose or more to connect the water. the bathrooms were not the best nor the worst that we have seen. there is a playground for the kids but it is located near the entry of the rv area not in the camping area.

all in all this is a good state park to base out of if you are traveling to see the local attractions. with the constant patrol from the rangers you can feel safe leaving you camper unattended for an outing.
