Anti freeze through siphon vs fresh water tank

Second year with my 08 Seville, I was told recently by a friend and long-time RV'er that having the water tank in the rear of the RV - the line to the pump is not purged with anti-freeze.

I should be putting anti-freeze into the tank and to ensure all the lines are purged.

Any thoughts, recommendations (not sure why the siphon would be mounted mid-RV if it didn't purge the 20+ feet of water line from the fresh water tank)?
