TV antenna
Hi guys and girls.
I'm trying to learn more about my Tv antenna. I have the "airplane wing" style antenna on my ST32RL but can't get any reception at the campsite. It was working at home, so the booster is good, and I know where to make sure it's turned on.
I can't find any adjustments (hand cranks etc) to try and reposition or extend the antenna. Should there be a way to adjust it ? Should I go up on the roof and try twisting it by hand? Thanks for any thoughts.

I believe the antenna you have is like mine. It is considered Omni Directional, there is no adjustment and you do not have to rotate or raise or lower it. These types of antennas do not work very well. If there is a strong signal you will get reception, weak signal and you wont. Some have replaced there antennas, purchased satelite or added boosters. I just hook up to cable

Antenna
I am sitting at an rv park right now and cannot get reception. I used to get a few channels here with my previous Winegard antenna. This so-called Omni directional antenna has never worked well for us. I have occasionally picked up a channel here and there but essentially kinda useless. Yesterday I started checking the connections that are stuffed in the wall behind the TV. Found 5 connectors that had not been installed properly (no grounding braid whatsoever) and replaced those properly but still no good .

Hello Techie, we also have the 32RL, to get good reception without cable, you have to put the booster on, this is located under the TV. What you have to do is swing the TV as if you were going to watch it outside, when the TV is in the position half inside and half outside, if you look up in there you will see a black push button, push this in and a light should go on, now the power booster is on and you should get AIR tv. Remember to turn this off when going back to cable. Hope this helps. Also, if your antenna is like mine , its already set up no need to adjust or raise it, its a fixed antenna.

you will also have to do a scan of channels. This helps a lot.

You will need to do channel scan each time you go some place new and do one for both cable and air if so desired.

We usually get about 3 channels it seems and most places none with this antenna where our friends have the old crank antenna and they get about 50 channels.

We have a crank up antenna and after a scan, do get up to 5-6 good channels, and several more that have a little more interference. I have found it depends on the weather, a little...or the location of the station, a little more. Have not had too bad a time accessing channels at campgrounds, but there are some locales that are tough to get a signal.

Not familiar with your model but its general location is behind main tv in entertainment area. It is a togggle switch and usually has a small lite to indicate it is on.

It is in cabinet above TV on right. You will see the antenna wire & switch will be on right of that panel.

If you push the tv to the right and look at the top you will see a plate where the cable goes and a switch.

Hi Techie, I have same antenna and the reception depends on whether you have the booster amp on or not and where you are camping. I solved that problem for good I had a trip planned to the florida keys and you can only get two spanish channels there over the air. go to the Upgrades and modifications page look for cheap Satelitte TV. Its a long winded post but I never have a tv problem but some of the folks I camp with do but they are converting.

Ok new related question. What setting should the TV and stereo unit (Genesis) be set to in order to get picture and sound?

If you run a red/white audio cable from the output on the back of the TV into one of the audio inputs on the back of the Genesis units, then mute the TV, and turn the Genesis to aux1 (or whatever one you plug the red/white into) you'll have your TV playing through your built in speakers.
Mine came wired with a red/white from the factory, however it was plugged into the wrong plugs on the back of the Genesis. A quick switch over of a few cables, and voila!

The last time out we had the usual problem. with TV reception...we got nothing. I moved the TV out and exposed the clump of cables, connectors, splitters etc that is jammed into the hole. I found that none of the connections were grounded by the wire braid. There was no wire braid exposed and used as a ground on any connectors. I believe there was 5 of of them. I bought new end connectors and re-did all ends. Didn't help so I assume that the connector to the antenna is not grounded.
