waking up the neighbors
New owner of 2016 Starcraft Lance and I need to know where I go to control outside speakers. I have looked everywhere and I can't find anything to allow me to listen to radio inside without letting all the neighbors hear my music also.

I have 2 5ers with different stereo systems but both have buttons on the top face plate labeled 1-2-3. When I turn the stereo on all speakers are on but when I push the button labeled 1 it turns off the outside speakers. Pain to have to remember this each time I turn the stereo on. Would like to have a discussion with the guy who thought outside speakers while camping was a good idea, particularly for the neighbors.

Both recent campers have the same protocol. The left button is normally volume, unless you push it. When you push it, you will see it cycle from bass, to treble, to balance, to fade. Fade used to mean front-to-back, in a car. The outside speakers are wired as the "rear" or possibly the "front" speakers. Keep balance in the middle (left-right) but fade all the way in the direction you want, i.e. inside, outside, or middle (both)

That's dumb (the designer, that is!)
outside speakers should be off as a default - again - IMHO

MAC48, there should be a user/owner manual for the stereo in your camper. If not, could you post the brand and model of the stereo? Even posting a picture of the front may help us.

Did you get a manual for the radio when you bought the camper.???If not you can find one on the internet...May not be the same from brand to brand...
coastn
We use our outside speakers all the time, just at a very low volume, so as not to bother the neighbors...

What is a Starcraft Lance? I've heard of a Starcraft Launch, and I've heard of Lance travel trailers, but I thought they were 2 completely different companies.
On my radio it says speakers, a, b, c. I think one is inside only, one is outside only, and one is both. I usually forget and just have to push the buttons to figure it out.

X2, we enjoy using ours when we are outside and never very loud. I don't like hearing other peoples music blasting (never seems to fail though there always has to be someone that thinks the entire campground wants to listen to their music ), so why should I have mine loud enough for them to hear it.

I'm curious about this Starcraft Lance. Is it a truck camper, TT, or 5th wheel. I never heard of this model. If you can fill in the info on this it would be appriciated. Then, maybe we could get you an accurate answer.
I'm sure you know this is a Crossroads Rv forum, but it doesn't matter. As long as we can help you is what matters.

Just remember, not everyone camps in campgrounds where you have neighbors. Many out in the west here, go to the desert where you don't have neighbors for miles.
I still believe it's a good idea, just use some common sense when near others.

Don't have to remember, I do both. Last weekend dry camping at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in your part of the world. Wish I could have found a road which would have taken me to that spot miles from neighbors. Had to settle for about 500 yards but that wasn't far enough to eliminate the music coming from the rig that far away. Wasn't my favorite genre. Prior to the weekend was at Borrego Palm Canyon Campground. Common sense pertaining to outside speaker volume was in short supply during my stays in both places. Most people have complied when I've respectfully asked for the volume to be turned down a little. One in Lake Charles, LA last spring was indignant and refused. Woke to find them moved on and my bike tires slashed. We all have our stories and our opinions.

State parks, city/county parks are the worst with 15 different music styles blasting around you. It doesn't really matter if they have the outside speakers on their trailer or not cause they just open the tow vehicles doors & blast away. The volume can't be adjusted so only they hear it, it has to blast throughout the park or nothing.

Most any state/city/county park on most any summer time weekend from mostly weekend rivers. Those are also the same group that leaves on Sunday afternoon leaving all their trash on the campsite for some park host/workamper to pickup cause "we paid for that site".

We have seen this even in private campgrounds so it's not just the state/city or county parks. And have seen the same stuff with more then just weekend campers.
