I was checking into adding the Big Foot levelers to my camper, and was told I needed to check with Lippert to see if it would affect the warranty on my frame. I called Lippert and they informed me if I add the Big Foot levelers too my camper, that my warranty WOULD be void. So what does that tell ya?

Tells me Lippet isn't to proud of their product.
Seems like they want to void the warranty if you do--anything to it--
By the way what are big foot levelers?

Did they give a reason why? Is it because of drilling into the frame to mount them?

They are heaven for the ones that get tired of leveling the camper. It is one touch presto, hydraulic leveling system <STRIKE>or electric</STRIKE>, can't remember. Hydraulic. If you go with a Youngs frame, all is okay with the warranty, shudda went with Young!!

It was worth it to him to take the chance. Edited by: markbet

I think Lippert would void your frame warranty if you put black spray paint on their frames. This will be our last 5th wheel with a Lippert frame.

I really wish at the factory rally that someone could mention to Crossroads sales/marketing and engineering folks that Lippert isn't exactly the greatest frame/axle company around.
Give me a Leland or Dexter component anytime.

Bad welds, bad welds, bad welds and bad welds. And that goes for the Lippert axles also. I got suckered into buying a product with a Lippert frame, after I swore I would never do it again. I was told that these particular Lippert frames are made to this camper manufacturing companies engineering, BS! I do not care how you slice it, it still comes up Lippert. These companies buy Lippert much cheaper, because they are cheap made, and have a reputation for bad welds. Some will not have a problem at all, while I have heard manycatastrophic tales. Its a crap shoot, some win, some lose.

Amen to that. Working QA in the Aerospace building NO weld leaves the plant without first being produced by a certified welder and second by having a 100% visual inspection by a QA person (like me).
I know what a good weld looks like and what crap looks like. Lippert welding is junk. While Crossroads dictates the frame and supports Lippert is still the one that welds the frames. I am disappointed in the weld quality on this camper vs. my prior Sunnybrook and Jayco products I have owned.
In the end, I love Crossroads and I think their supplier's should share their vision of a superior quality product. I just don't see how Lippert fits into that equation.
JMHO.

I can drill holes in my truck frame for a 5th wheel hitch and a trailer hitch without any warranty issues and it has a lighter frame than the 5th wheel. But if I drill four holes in the trailer frame to mount a reciever hitch so I can mount a bike rack and put two bikes on it that all together weigh 200 lbs I will void my trailer frame warranty. What is wrong with this picture?

May be getting into deep water here, but as RUMOR has it, they use illegals, or close to it, give them a couple days training and turn them loose. So it may depend on when they bring in their new batch of highly trained welders.

Markbet how can you get into trouble for stating that, Lippert will get out of any warrenty work they can. I called them and asked about adding equa-flex to my camper and they said any mod. would void my warrenty. I put it on any way.

If you ever have the opportunity to remove the membrane under your trailer, take a look at their welds on the cross members. I fixed no less than 5 welds that were snapped. Looking at the welds, I would bet money that whoever did the welding was drunk or stoned while they were working. Crazy glue would have held better.

I am always in fear as this is not the first time I have seen stories
about bad welds. I know that one of the first things I took my trailer
back was the shock mounts were just tac welded and had the dealer redo
them. I wish the person had some kind of cert but it is still holding
and I can not even think of looking under the cover. I fear that
someday I will drive off with only the king pin in tow but then the
insurance can pay for it. haha

I don't remember how my cruiser was, but the one I have now has a heavy rubber mat type stuff that is screwed to the frame. I don't think it would be all that difficult to do.

Wasn't too bad but then again, I didn't put mine back on, I replaced it with Cor-Plast instead.

Lippert essentially owns the industry and is unavoidable. If I was a betting man, I'd expect Dexter to be a Lippert company before the end of the quarter. No one in the industry really expects Dexter to remain independent much longer.
You have Leland and Venture left and neither of them are any better than Lippert. The JayFeather has been a warranty nightmare for 2+ years now.
