Destination TT or Park Model

Just about to buy a Hampton 388FKL and 3 dealers tell me it's a Destination Travel Trailer. Crossroads marketing seems to be leaning toward the Park Model market. Dealer says it would be titled as a Destination Travel Trailer. Local ordinance says no Park Models.

Penny for your thoughts guy's?

I guess I'm not getting your drift here.
Park model, Destination trailer, are pretty much the same in my book. Are you planning on putting it in a RV park in your area, or what?
That is what they're designed for.
I guess if you could elaborate a little more, it would help me/us understand your question better.

Hampton

I own property on the back corner of a 40 acre woods. have power, water and have camped there for 15 years. Thinking about upgrading to the Hampton.
Local ordinances say no park models unless your in an RV park. I've been researching Destination vs Park models and by definition there are generally some clear differences. Shingles, Siding and no tanks are the most obvious when referring to Park Models at RV dealerships here.

I was just curious what other Hampton owners referred to their units as?

At the dealership I'm working with Hamptons are grouped under the travel trailer tab. Park model Tab shows shingled and sided units. Seems there's a grey area maybe?

I agree. I would take a brochure of what you are wanting to the zoning commission and see what they say. Looks like if they do not want the park models they are considering them the same as a mobile home. Where as the destination would be the same as a camper. Just my 2 cents.

Now it makes more sense. I see what you are wanting, and what you are up against.
My suggestion is to start with your town board. Go to the next monthly board meeting.
Take the brochure and other pertinent information with you that the dealer has to offer. Maybe you can convince the town board to look at a little more to your liking.
Also beware the dealer, salesmen have a reputation of telling the buyer what he wants to hear just to make the sale.

I don't understand how a local ordinance could disenfranchise a property owner from placing any unit on private property. Unless perhaps sewage displacement concerns, but those would would stem from any dwelling. What is the difference between TT, Motorhome, 5th wheel, Park, or Tent?

The county we live in requires a minimum of 5 acres for a mobile home. Not sure for a camper. The property we bought had a old mobile home already on it. We have 3.79 acres and the existing mobile home would be grandfathered in but not if we replaced it. We bought a "Manufactured home" a cross between a Modular and a mobile. But it comes with a title. In order to put it on the property we needed to build a foundation and attach it to it. So we had footings and a 5' crawl space poured. The home it attached to it permanently. Then we had to have a inspector come out and inspect it after that we had to take the title to the license bureau surrender it, take the paperwork to the county and have the "House added to the property deed.

Just a example of what each county can do as far as zoning. Just need to find what hoops you need to jump thru to satisfy them.

Thanks for your comments to all that replied. Got a call back from our township Ordinance guy. We're good!!!! Just put money down on a Hampton 388FKL!!!
