It's a big unit, and you push a lot of air. I'm not sure what your 1/2 ton is rated at. I'm comfortable with my SUV, which is rated at 9,100, and now, under the new standard, a "real life" 7,200, but I do feel it. It tows well. I spent a great deal of time trying to figure an awning over the "kitchenette" as we call it, but a no go, so we have a small E-Z up which is ok, but a bit awkward dealing with the door. It's our 4th, camper, and the best by far. I think the price is fair for the design, but there some minor assembly issues, only one of which hasn't been resolved, but its all minor. I think the designers are better than the assembly, but that was all just some finishing items.
We were concerned about getting away from Jayco, which is all over, but Camping World can service them, and Camping World we trust.

All in all, my whole family gives it a hearty thumbs up.

Thank you for the positive outlook. We like the 270BH because 1) Bunkhouse without a separate room. We like openness. 2) 80" queen bed, as I am 6'1" 3) Outdoor Kitchen, of course, I am the campground cook 4) Not all fancy looking inside, more plain and simple 5) Looks to be half ton towable.

We love our 270BH, and we've had quite a few. There were some minor assembly issues that the dealer is taking care of.
