The kit is simply a 8' piece of "H" molding which you cut (I used about 6" worth) and slide up the crack after you cut it straight and enlarge the cut. CR sent it to me free but actual cost if I paid...

That seam is a typical crack in the siding. Mine cracked last winter and I repaired with a kit from CR and it looks exactly like mine. Very typical weak spot. If fact, I have seen brand new rigs...
