Rear Bumper hitch or other options?

I was wondering if I had any option to haul Bikes or Kayaks using my rear bumper or the backside of my TT?

I currently do not have a hitch or a ladder. I am just looking for better options.

My bed is a short bed and the bikes barely fit, and I am carrying kayaks on my roof with a roof rack but That is not the most convenient way of doing things.

Thanks in advance!!

Most will say no. The rear bumper can barely be depended on to carry the weight of sewer hose. I tried the bumper hitch and carried two adult bikes for a period of time until I noticed the welds broken. Luckily the bumper stayed attached but that was the last time I used the rear bumper for anything more than a sewer hose carrier.

I had a fabricating shop that was located across the street from the RV dealer we purchased our camper from fab one that is welded directly to the frame at four points. We had them put one on our last camper as well. I have seen a few of these racks around. They seem to work well,I am tossing around the idea of getting one. Check out www.rvkayakracks.com

looks like a motorhome in the pic. A little sturdier frame on a motorhome than on a trailer. crossroads will likely void the frame warranty if altered or added to.

The picture is off of the kayak rack web site. I had a receiver hitch fabricated to fit a bike rack or storage rack mounted to the rear I-beams of the frame. It was a better option than mounting it on the bumper which I don't even trust to have the spare tire mounted to. The dealer said it will not void the frame warranty (true or not I don't know?) but from what I see Crossroads doesn't want to warranty to much anyways.

Installed a rear hitch on ours -Curt 13703 ADJUSTABLE RV HITCH. Cut some of the steel off it so it would fit closer to the bumper.

I had the same question for my ST240BH unit. I'd like to carry 3 bikes on the back if possible. I contacted Crossroads directly from the link on this forum and here is the response I received:

"The manufacturer of the frame and bumper does not publish a rating for the bumper. For their part, they contend that any modifications to the bumper void the frame warranty. Thank you."

I think the best option is to go the route proposed by SJK1998

Good Luck
