surge protector location

My unit has a generator and a transfer switch (box). If I locate the surge suppressor between the transfer switch and the interior breakers (converter) will it protect both pedestal and generator power? One problem I anticipate is not being able to see the suppressor because of the outside location of the transfer box. Is anyone aware of a solution to that problem?

Steve, I'm not exactly sure just what you are asking, but here is a link with a lot of info in it. Maybe it will help you.

You could also give Progressive a call with your questions. They've had good customer help noted in the past.
That way you could be assured of getting the correct answers.

Wire the surge protector just before your breaker box. What I did was disconnect your breaker box from the back. Use those wires for the surge protector input . Bought 4' number 6 extention cord. Wired it from the surge protector out to the breaker box. Everything is protected.

Thanks, that is what I will do, assuming there is room behind the breaker/converter box
