Need to replace two tires on our CF29CK with something better than the Chinese Missions. In January we replaced two with Goodyear Marathons. After reading the reviews we have decided we do not want the Marathons either. We need to do this in the next 48 hrs so I need some advice quickly! What is the best tire to use????

Thanks for your help.

I have replaced my tires with Maxxis as well. Purchased through Discount Tire.

So far so good.

Another vote for Maxxis tires. At Discount Tire the load range E's were about the same price as load range D Marathon. Since I don't need the carrying capacity of the E's, I run them at about 72 psi but the stiffer sidewalls help keep the fiver slightly more stable than the old tires.

Spent most of the day talking tires. I think I know more than the dealers now. Learned alot, maybe too much. Now I am overwhelmed and still haven't made a decision. I have narrowed it down to Maxxis D load or Carlisle E load. I am told Carlisle is a US made tire. E load is about the same price as the Maxxis D load which is made in Taiwan. Anyone have any info or experience with Carlisle tires?????

why not go with an LT tire instead of an ST tire ?....you can get an American made LT tire without a problem, I changed all mine to LT's and it has been fine and you can't tell the difference, I can't see on a cruiser where an "E" range tire is needed, an "E" is a 10 ply, but if you only carry the air pressure of a "D" range the tire is legally considered a "D", I would think an "E" rated tire on a cruiser with max air would sure ride hard, just a thought...

Having the Maxxis D Load mounted as we speak. When the Carlisle tires arrived at the shop they had "made in China" on them. Dealer appeared to be surprised, I really wasn't. The Maxxis is made in Taiwan but sounds like everyone is satisfied with them, so we decided to give them a try. Leaving Friday for NC so will let you know when we return if we had any problems. We will have 4 new tires (2 GY Marathons and 2 Maxxis). Will keep our fingers crossed.

As always, the forum advice was great! Love this place. Thanks to all for your advice.

I knew someone would bring up the LT vs ST debate. I have Carlisle E's and they have been just perfect. I run 80 PSI all the time as they recomend and have no issues. I have Carlisle D's on my boat and run 65 PSI all the time and no problems. I do run a real time pressuresystem and the E'swill go up to 90 PSI or 92 PSIon a hot day at about 68 MPH. I have only put about 7,000 miles on'em but so far so good.

Have to watch it though any time you ask for the best of anything you get everyones personal best and still have to decide youself.

Good luck
