speaking of converters
It dawned on me the last time we were out that I haven't heard the fan run in the converter, and I don't remember hearing it for quite some time now.
I really don't know if that is anything crucial or not. The converter was changed while still under warranty, but that was because it had developed a squeal.
Now I'm wondering if it can run that way or is it going to crap out on me?
Anybody have any experience with that problem?

Well, Lloyd, it's been my experience that when the fan stops turning it isn't long before you need a new converter!

About the only time we hear the fan on our converter is if we happen to have a light on that isn't an LED. We might hear it sometimes when the water pump runs.

Cowboy, you must have changed just the main board assembly?
Had your fan on the old one stopped working?

It takes a heavy load for the fan to turn on or very high air temps. So turn on all the lights. If it isn't running then you have a problem. Sometimes the fan can get stuck, so disconnect shore power, take the cover off the panel and manually try turning the blade. Then power everything up again. If the fan still doesn't work, then prepare yourself for a new converter board.
If the converter fails while traveling, you can use an auto battery charger as a substitute, but use the circuit breaker to disconnect input power to the converter.

I took the cover off yesterday and started the electric heater running on high for about 10 min. The fan never offered to run. It's not stuck, I can turn it with my finger.
My lights are all LED so they don't draw very much.

Which electric heater? Water heater is 120V AC. The furnace fan, bathroom vent fan and kitchen exhaust fan are probably the biggest 12V power users since you have LED lights. Try all 3 at the same time.

Apparently I was mixed up on what caused the fan to run or need to run to cool the converter.
It's the draw of DC current which creates heat and calls for cooling, not AC.
After turning on all the lights, bath fan, range hood, I could see it was turning. Quiet to, but with my poor hearing I probably would never hear it running with all the other going.
Thanks for waking me up to the fact Larry.

I really can't recall hearing my fan come on since I converted all of my lights to LEDs.
