So we have a 2006 Cruiser and ever since we have it I get so congested and sick when we camp and have it closed up for the air conditioning or heat. I have cleaned it at the begining and end of season floor to ceiling with water and mr clean, but I still can't breath rightby the end of the trip. Has anyone else experienced this and did you find a solution to remedy it?

I would look for mold/mildew behind cabinets and in the bathroom. Any signs of repair work or water stains? Are you allergic to cats or dogs? Maybe the previous owners had pets.

We are the original owners I am not allergic to anything that I know of. It still has that "new smell" when we open it after the winter so I am thinking it is still whatever chemical they use to put it together. Just don't know how to get rid of that smell.

Put a couple of pie tins out in it with ammonia and let it sit closed up for a couple of days. Then open it up for a week or so and see if that helps. I have read about people doing this and the ammonia absorbs the odors/fumes. You could also try renting an Ozone machine for a few days and run it in the trailer.

You could be sensitive to formaldehyde. Many of the composites are made with it and there are some people that are sensitive to it.</span></span>

We had that "new" smell in ours when we first got it. It's probably formaldehyde.
I pulled the rig out into the hot sun, placed pie tins with ammonia in them around in the trailer, closed it up, and let it set that way for 2 or 3 days in the hot sun.
Almost needed a gas mask when I went back in. I removed the pie tins and opened all the windows, doors and overheads and let it air out. We don't have that nasty smell any more.

We have a vent hood in the Bathroom and leave it open all of the time. Try cracking a window and keep airing it out. As Old Farmer stated the amonia will gas you out if you aren't fast while in there opening it back up.

I have left the back window open from april to october since we got the camper in 2005 I guess it's time to use the ammonia. I realize I have been dealing with this for 6 years ,but usually we can open up while away and it's not bad. Last week we were in washington, dc and at 95 all week we kept it closed I feel like crap enough to finally try something to end the irritation. Thank you for the information I'm off to buy ammonia.
