Built in radio removal
Hello,
I am new here. I have a 2008 Zinger 32QB with a radio that does not work as I believe the inline fuse for it is blown. The problem is I can remove the radio faceplate, but I have no idea on how to get the radio out as it seems to be builtin to the upper cabinet. Can someone please guide me on what to do?
Thanks,
Dave

Hello and welcome.
Can you post a picture of the radio or do you know the make. It would help to know as some one may have changed it in the past.
There are usually some kind of trim that has to be removed to access the screws.

I knew to take a picture, but forgot to. It’s 3 hours north of me. Just wanted to be prepared when I go up in two weeks. It’s original as I bought the trailer brand new. After removing the radio faceplate all there is it the plastic piece that the faceplate was on and it’s snug to the wood. I can’t budge it.

Can you access the under side of what it's mounted to? It might have screws coming up from the bottom to hold it in place.

Just looked on line at 08 32qbs and there were different radios. One was like a car radio-about 2-3' tall and 5-6" wide the other was about 6-8" square. If you have the "car' type you may need a radio removal tool kit - i think the W mart has them. once you remove the face plate you find the "tool that fit the radio and insert it in holes or slots on both sides then the radio pulls out then the screws that hold the chassis can be removed.
If its the "square type" under the trim plate will be screws from the front to the cabinet. The screws on both types will probably take a square screw driver.
Of course this with out seeing the radio this is a educated guess .

You are quicker than me just saw the picture. That is a "din" type after you remove the face plate you will need the removal tool kit.

Had an issue with mine where it was loose in the housing that holds it to the bracket. Actually moved around enough to snap the plastic decorative bezel off. In my case, I was able to access the radio from the side by removing a panel in the cabinet. Hard to describe, but you may be able to unscrew the panel in the side of the overhead cabinet and get at it. Mine is a few hours away too otherwise I would get a pic. Once I had access from the side I was able to access the screws on the bracket to tighten it up. I could have removed it as well at that point. I tightened it up and made bracket to ensure it doesn't come loose again. Put just a dab of epoxy on the bezel to keep in on there (the plastic "fingers" were broken on it).

Thanks Dagsr1, I guess I will have to look at it a little harder to see how a tool will work. I was hoping there would have been access on the sides to insert keys to unlock the tabs on the chassis and then the radio would just slide out. But there is no access for this. The tool would either have to pry it out or pull on the front face of the faceplate mounting....that’s from my observation. I guess I will see the next time I get up there. I will let you know. Thx

The "tool kit" is just two metal snips that slide between the radio, and the shell that screws to the cabinet. If you know what you're looking for, you ought to be able to release those catches with a wire, a piece of cardboard, or many thin, stiff items. Mine were included in the big envelope of owner's manuals, if you have such.

Whatever brand radio it is, there are special flat steal pieces that slide in each side of the radio to release it from the steal case, that stats in the cabinet. Try looking on the manufacturer of the radios website for specific tools

It’s a Pyramid Radio
First off thank you everyone for your help, but I am still not sure how to get at the radio in line fuse. Crossroads replied telling me to remove the panel below the radio. I probably could do that but not sure if I would damage it and don’t know how to reinstall the panel. It’s a Pyramid radio after removing the radio face there is still a plastic piece which I can’t seem to budge to be able to install tools on the sides to compress the clips to be able to pull the radio out. Attached are a couple of pictures I took.
