Mine have a short now, some are brighter then others, but like some said I think I am going to have them mounted on the side of the trailer. I wanted the ones that change color / dim / etc but they require either an infrared or wireless controller and instead of + - wires they have 4 wires. I don't know how or where I would get those installed or where they would go through the wall of the trailer.

I need to find where the factory ones come through and try them, the easiest option would be to just get the white ones and attach to the wall and just use the power from the switch.

During my PDI I made them put out both awnings. Glad I did because the light strip on the second awning was half dead. That was 03/19/2016. I haven't heard back, but last update they were still waiting for warranty approval to replace it along with some other items. This is a brand new unit that has not left the lot.

I just had mine repaired under warrant. Three lights were out very quickly It took a couple weeks to get the strip in.

The multi-color ones are cheap (with controller) on Ebay or Amazon and really easy to hook up. Just order the ones rated for full water immersion and a radio frequency controller so you don't have the line of sight problem. The hardest part is mounting the string of lights. Hook up is simple. You can wire them into the door light fixture.

When I got this rv I contemplated switching all the lights to LED, but didn't ever get to it, now after reading countless post on different forums I'm glad I didn't spend the money or time on them. We've fulltimed for 3+ years & Ive only replaced 4 halogen bulbs so far, I tried LED in the sconces over the couch & they lasted about 30 days, very expensive experiment, so I'll stick with the halogen.

If you are parked all the time where you are hooked up to electricity, you probably don't have much use for the energy saving LED bulbs.
If you did any dry camping/boon docking. then I don't agree with you.
True there LED's out there that aren't worth bring home. I know because I've purchased them. They're cheap, and the most of them are junk.
When I got tired of the junk, I started buying from Command Electronics.
Sure, they cost more, a lot more, but I have yet to replace one of their lights.

As usual I have to agree with Lloyd...The awning LED's are bad mainly because of placement, and I am guessing they are not waterproof...When it rains and the awning is in the stow position they literally are submerged until you open the awning up...I am on my second set and they are starting to fail...Here is some more bad news for you...My inside ceiling factory LED's are starting to fail...I have replaced three with Command Electronics double pancake lights...I have always been happy with LED's I get from them...

I want to find out if I can use the wireing from the existing awning LED's for the multi color LED sets that are placed under the awning on the camper side wall, I see advertised in Camping World...

Yes you can tie the new string into the wiring where it come out of the trailer wall and run off the same switch as the awning lights.

From your answer I am under the impression that you have already done that...What LED set did you use with the existing wire, if you don't mind me asking...Thanks in advance...

I don't have the make offhand. I ordered the waterproof outdoor strip off amazon and installed them on a new winnebago that had the leds in the awnings.

LED's going bad

Well, after 10 trips since purchasing the unit last year our awning lights are starting to fail. Looking at the lights, it looks like some sort of encapsulation was poured in the groove where the lights are, looks like it would be fun (NOT) to remove to replace. Notified dealer yesterday but haven't heard from them yet. Hoping it is covered by the warranty. Thought LED's were supposed to last thousands of hours, not in the double digit range.

Led lights

We had ours replaced über warranty
The first two units burnt out 1st completely and the secon had every 2nd led burnt out.

We are on our third set and it seems fine.

I know that they had some issues with the first batch.

On our third and last set, if they go again I will be going with an over the counter set. Plus, I would like to install them UNDER the awning on the outside wall of the rv. Just use the same wiring and switch.

I had a 2013 300BH and the lights started burning out on the first trip. Back in the day (2013), you could call Crossroads direct and have them ship you the lights set under waranty. Very common problem for these inline awning lights. The issue per Crossroads is water gets into the system as well as the motion of the roller stressing the connections (not sure on that one). For those of you out of warranty, not sure if you can still buy parts direct form crossroads, but this set is supposedly around 70 bucks and they are relatively easy to install based on the directions they sent me.

Incidentally, I was waiting until a majority of them burned out to pull the strip out and ended up trading the trailer in for 2016 32BH. That said, never actually got around to replacing but directions in package make it look easy other than having to get on a ladder.

For what it's worth, I am planning to get around to putting the replacement set from Crossroads on the classified if anyone is out of warranty and interested. I dont recall the length of my 2013 awning length but have the part number on the bag.

Glad to see this is a known issue going on for years. When brand new ours went out after 2 trips, replaced under warranty over last winter, after second trip this year they went out again. Since work was done over the winter is was over 90 days before we used them. Was told by Fretz service they would not cover under warranty could try to contact the manufacture.

I just replaced them with under the awning led strip lights and honestly like them better, keeping fingers crossed they last.

After a bunch of reading reviews I decided to go with Recreation pro 16' LED RV awning party light with mounting channel in white. Only used them for one weekend so far and happy but the true test will be if they continue to work I will try and remember to post and update.

First long weekend with the brand new ST270BH, I ran them for quite a while, I sat under the awning and within 10 minutes of turning them on they started to fail. First 2 here, 4 there, then it was 7 here, 4 more there, then a while later those were back on and others were off!

I've got 3 things to call on warranty now.
