Better BBQ
Hey All.
Wondering if anyone has upgraded the useless little BBQ that came with their trailer with a bigger one that STILL fits the bumper mount.
Just returned from a 2 week trip and was overly frusterated by the tiny grill space and uneven heat of the stock unit. Made cooking for 6 people a trying process at best.

They make better stainless steel models
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014JN68O/...I2GA871D9HG3KX
They're higher quality but really doesn't increase your cooking area. Best bet is to grab a cheap gas grill or camp chef 2-3 burner setup.

Our trailer didn't come with a BBQ but our former trailer did. One of the problems is that the propane hose is designed for only so much flow, and the 10,000 BTU BBQ was it. A larger BBQ needs a larger propane hose.
We carry a 20,000 BTU stainless steel BBQ (they sell them for $100 - $120) at Sam's Club and Costco. It cleans up easily and works great. Unfortunately, this means also carrying a smaller propane tank with us to power it.

I tried to find a replacement that would fit the bumper mount but never could. You can use the existing propane quick connect with any grill or stove.

I was told it had the bumper adapter, but looking at the mfg website now, I don't see the bumper adapter offered anymore.

Check out this website they carry a mount that will work with the Weber Q100 & Q200's. I have not purchased one yet but it is on my list for this winter. They also carry grills that come with mounts they seam to be better than the ones that come with the trailers.

I take my Treager junior along and all is well. Can smoke, grill and it has plenty of room. Got the fold up legs, but just throw it in the back of the truck. Gotta love good BBQ. Oh and I always cook the bacon outside on it so the camper doesn't smell like bacon forever.

I hear ya! Bought a griddle for mine just so I could cook bacon. I made bacon and eggs, and pancakes last time we went out.

I agree the bumper mount grill is pretty sad. I used my Dremel tool with a cutting disk and cut the useless warming tray off. Gives me more cooking room.

I cut the warming tray off mine also. Be careful not to touch it where you cut it off until it cools. Short story there I am sure you are getting a visual. You will drop it fast. I was like heck you couldn't even cook more than a couple burgers on that thing. I bring it along for baking potatoes, grilling garlic bread and cooking side dishes.

I agree the warming tray is useless. You can't put anything on it and close the lid. But for the times with just two people it works fine. You have to play with it and figure it out. I have done pork steaks, steaks, chops, burgers, etc and it's been great. Granted it is what it is. I am thinking a Road Trip with mount might be my next one. Really don't want to have to carry another grill and extra tank around.

Again. Any grill can be made to work with the propane quick connect at the rear of our TT's. No need for an extra tank.

Since the gas is already regulated at the tank, don't you need a different regulator on the grill you are hooking up too?
I connected my camp chef grill to the rear supply and barely got a flame. Connected the thank directly to the grill and it worked fine.
I figured it was my camp chef grill that was the issue since it original took 1lb bottles as a supply

I have been doing a little research because I have the Weber q200 and right now we are still using the small screw on bottles but I plan to start using the quick connect on the trailer. From what I have read you need to take off the regulator on the grill since the trailer already has one. Two regulators equal low to no flame

You said it, the gas is already regulated at the tank so there is no need to regulate it again. Run a straight line into your cooking appliance from the quick connect and it will work on most consumer appliances. Some high output cast burners need a high pressure regulator but those are specialty items. My Camp Chef 3 burner stove works like a champ with a 10' 1/4" hose as does our seldom used Coleman camp stove.

It is still a little small but I have the camco 5500. It seems to work better then what is on our friends tt. There is a cast iron drip plate with holes above the burner to even out the temperature.
There was one pictured earlier but a slightly different mount.

Mine is this one. I modified the bumper mount to hold this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KGI...ref=mp_s_a_1_9
