Delivery questions

Hey all,

Taking delivery of a new ST270BH next week at our local Camping World. We are doing the 2 hour orientation. This is our first camper, so not sure what to expect.

I want to make sure our camper comes with everything from the factory. I know to look for the bumper grill. Anything else I should make sure the camper has? Of course it will have LP tanks filled and a new battery.

Looks like I need to buy a sewer hose, will research best option for that.

Getting excited to start camping and fishing!

Hi PokerMunkee,

Congrats on the new trailer. You're going to love that layout! There are several threads on the forum that discuss the Pre-Delivery Inspection. Basically a technician is supposed to do a "walkthrough" and PDI. The purpose is to show you 1)how everything works and 2) demonstrate that everything is functioning properly in the trailer. In additional to all the threads on the forum (you can do a search), There is an inspection list in the documents section that is pretty comprehensive. You can find it here ->CrossRoads RV Family Forum - Library - Tom Boles Pre-Delivery Inspection List

As far as what you need, I'm pretty sure camping world gives your a starter kit. It has the basics like a the entry level sewer hose, hose adapter, plug adapter, a roll of toilet paper... Also, they may give you a coupon for the store.

If not, we've had good luck getting our RV supplies from Amazon, they're usually 10-15% cheaper than CW. My only advice on sewer hoses is spend the money on good set. I bought a rhinoflex and it was about middle of the road on price and pretty well built. They sell sturdier stuff, but this met our needs.

Best of luck..I'm sure others will post more things for you to think about.

No problem, Oh and by the way. Don't let them rush through the walkthrough. If you have questions are something doesn't seem right. Stop the walkthrough and ask for an explanation. If something just isn't perfect to your liking, make them fix it. These units are massed produced and if a staple or screw is sticking out, it's not out of the ordinary. Remember that taking it in for service is time and money out your pocket to get it there. Also, scheduling service this time of year is a headache.

get a 20 ft sewer hose, not the 10 that they will probably give you. a 50 ft white hose. not the 25 ft. have them throw in a 25 ft 30 amp cord.

You might want to video the walk through as well or parts of it. You will be shown and told a lot of info in a short period of time and it is real easy to forget something later when you are camping.

welcome to this great forum. Good luck with your new Rv. Just a hint, don't store the sewer hose in the bumper. It wears it down and little holes show up.

You can actually buy a tube specially made for the sewer hose and attach that to your bumper, or even underneath somewhere.

Just a quick note, if you are going to buy the sewer hose carriers, make sure the connectors fit inside, many of them don't accommodate the larger connectors like RhinoFlex.

you can also line the inside of the bumper with a thin sheet of plastic . cannot remember where I found mine.

We were unaware of that. Where do you store your sewer hose? Maybe we should start a thread on this?

We have been storing ours in a garbage bag because of the end pieces not fitting in the bumper.

I have a rhinoflex system and since the connectors are larger diameter, the hose never touches the inside of the bumper.

Mark that Rhino must be a pretty stiff if it doesn't sag in the middle.

I had to grind down my Rhino flex flanges by 1/4 inch, now they fit great.

Check out Lloyds solution he just posted.

You know I've been told us EcoBoost drivers are compensating for something...

Between you and Mark, I could get into lot's of trouble around the campfire with you guys and my better half listening..You guys are a riot. A little " blue humor" every now and than keeps us young...so does that little blue pill....now im making jokes..

To clarify, the hose isn't the problem, see Mark's comment..the flange on the connectors are literally 1/32" smaller than the bumper internal dimensions. I swear it expands when its storming outside and I'm trying to get it to fit.
