Battery Drain

We recently had our 2018 Crossroads Grand Reserve serviced at the factory... entire new floor (thanks Keystone)... when we got it back the batteries were both dead. Since then it seems as though they have not been charging when the unit is plugged into AC. I bought a new battery and it drained right away with no use. Is there not a built in charger in the trailer?
It's a nightmare that the slides won't operate unless the battery is charged.
Anyway, I thought there was a built in charging system, am I wrong?
Thanks, Jim

Yes the converter will charge the battery. You say the floor was replaced was the battery charging before? Not sure what part of or where they replaced the floor but if you have a deck mount converter it may be as simple as they forgot to plug it back in. If you have a meter then check the battery cables with them disconnected. This will tell you if the converter is charging. Do any of the interior lights work as they are 12 volt and if the battery is disconnected then the lights should still come on if the converter is working.

To clarify, the battery will normally charge when the unit is connected to shore power, and your truck will basically maintain that charge when traveling, but not much more.
If you leave the battery connected and not connected to shore power, the RV will discharge the battery in as little as a few days. If a battery is left discharged, it will be damaged, as you found out. I would have removed the battery and kept it at home when your RV went to the factory.
You should meter the voltage at the battery terminals, both unplugged and plugged in. The voltage on shore power should be above 13 volts, and when unplugged should be in the high 12s.
It sounds like the convertor is not working, and these tests will confirm it.

Another thing to consider is the size of your battery like a group 27 rather than group 31... as mentioned when unplugged from shore power a week battery that won't take a full charge would be hard pressed to maintain any charge more than a day. Best is grab your multimeter and see what the draw is between the battery post and the battery cable. Bet that will surprise you. Reattach your cable then you can pull fuses one at a time and hunt down what's using all the current with your multimeter. I found my antenna was a huge draw, then things like the propane detector are constant, smoke detector maybe, etc. Getting to know your trailer as they say...

There is a converter/charger onboard, and battery switch should be on when stored w/ shoreline power, and battery switch= off if no shore power. Check onboard breakers and fuses and switch and battery connections?

My batteries drain in a few days when not plugged in because of the bluetooth radio CD unit which is direct wired and I have to pull out and remove the fuse to turn it off. Quite annoying plus I always forget.

Yes. I turn that off but as I said, the dvd/cd/radio is direct wired and not turned off by the disconnect unfortunately

Just wandering. On my Seville the positive battery cable goes to the disconnect then the rest of the camper so when off everything is disconnected from the battery. Could you remove the wire for the radio from the battery and move it to the disconnect so it would shut off?
