Fridge in outside kitchen

I was wondering if the fridge in the outside kitchen works when travelling. I know it's only on electricity but I have yet to use it so I don't know if it's worth plugging it in before leaving to keep stuff cold until we reach destination.

Thanks for your insight on this.

No the fridge does not work while traveling. What I found was that it would defrost while traveling and water went inside the cabinet. Ended up removing the fridge and put in 1 pullout shelf so the wife can put the griddle on and 1 shelf so I can store the BBQ grill.

Started w/ second battery & inverter from harbor fright not worth the trouble!
Now start w/ beverages cold, freezer full of "Blue" ice blocks, safety strap locked, has traveled 1K miles + overnite & beer is still COLD. However; have never had frost build up problem in freezer section; but, wife hearing of de-frosting water damage now has me packing an old bath towel under beer in "dorm" refer.
Sure wish I could remodel allowing larger outdoor Refer, haven't thought of away; so, got a portable ice maker . . .

gets hot..

We've used ours a lot!! Never had a meltdown either........
I do worry about it getting too hot inside kitchen when running when I'd close the lid for the night.. so Now I keep it gapped open, so I get a little air flow..

Those 2 black round vents behind the fridge are supposed to keep air flow when big door is closed. Mine vent to bathroom.

We have one in our 32' CR ST 5th Wheel. We use it a lot as well and have never had an issue with it defrosting and causing water damage. I found out that it keeps our beer and wine perfectly cold.

I think the defrosting was meant to happen when you leave camp to head home or to another place. My last 7 hour drive home allowed the fridge freezer to defrost thus dripping all over the inside of the fridge...fix was to put a towel between the freezer and the plastic tray.

Just to add to the discussion. We load the freezer with freezer packs when travelling and while it defrosts a bit my drinks stay cold if we're going three hours or less travelling.
