I have a question
regarding roadside assistance, specifically for the trailer (5th wheel).

I have coverage for
the truck (new vehicle option) and if the truck needs towing, it will be towed
to nearest dealer. I get up to $200 allowance if the trailer has to be towed
separately. No further coverage for repairs unless under warranty. The option has
all typical services, gas, flats, lockout, etc.
</span>So I think this is satisfactory coverage. Basically my exposure is for
repairs beyond warranty, which I would incur where ever I am.

BUT, my concern is
if the breakdown is the result of an issue on the trailer which prevents it
from being pulled, this is not covered anywhere with what I have.

What do most of you
have to address this exposure, specifically for the 5vr?

What plans?

What company?

Approx cost?

Thanks

Rich

I am not an expert, but let me add this. If the RV is not towable via conventional means then a flat bed truck will need to be called in. To me that is still covered under towing. if you have had an accident then the insurance company should step up and tow it. If a part breaks (ie gorilla cage) while camping then towing may not be covered. You raise a good question and I will have to call my insurance company to ask.

Even though I have towing coverage under my truck warranty I have CoachNet for the RV and truck. It also covers my wife's truck and my flatbed trailer. I think the cost is about $110 a year. Good Sam offers the same ERS for about the same price. We have used them twice, once on my old truck I had a flat on the truck and they sent a guy who changed it on the side of the road with the 5th wheel hooked up and my wife had a flat on her truck at work one day and they came and changed it at her work. Well worth the money to me.

x2 on the Good Sam roadside assistance. I curently have AAA+RV and Good Sam covers more and cost less. I will be switching at the end of the year!

Good sam platinum is a wee bit more but covers tv, trailer, AND anything else you are driving even if it isn't your vehicle. Just used mine two days ago to tow mom's car when it quit

Thanks ... I agree with the peace of mind too. Will probably get the Good Sam ... everything is covered except if the trailer is at fault.
