Slide-out toppers

We are in the process of purchasing a new Rezerve 31 SB and it has 2 slide-outs. The dealer is suggesting the purchase of toppers for the slide-outs. What are your guys take on them? Curious if they prevent damage, and how well they work?

I have had units with and without. Myself, I highly recommend them.
The roof on those slide outs have very little insulation, The topper helps keep it cooler.
They help keep the debris off, that makes it easier when you retract them. Also in the same sense it will help prevent damage to the seals and flapper.
I also think they help prevent water leaks up there.
My opinion--and I'm sure you will get different ones.

I have had them on the last 3 units and won't be w/o them. There are some models with cathedral ceilings in the slideout that can't use toppers that I wouldn't buy for that reason. Toppers are pretty inexpensive if ordered and installed at the factory.

I would recommend them for all of the reasons stated above. I have had them on my present and past trailers over the past nine years and have not had any problems with them.

Depends on if you will be in windy weather a lot, if so DO NOT get them they will drive you nuts flopping,.if just occasional winds get them for all the reasons above.

I agree with Tony. Their idea, roll them into the deal. I put toppers on our TT this year and regret not including it in with the original deal.

Thanks for all the input! We called them up and had them order them so they're going to be installed before we take delivery.

Good. Decision. But tell them you want them for free
And. If you have them installed before delivery it will be quicker
Cause if you bring the trailer back it will take forever
Just my $.002

x2. Get anything you want done up front. It is amazing how quick they can be to sell you a unit compared to how slow -and expensive- they can be when you bring it back.

Good call!!! We had them our last MH and now we don't on our new rig so in Fall we are installing since they seem to work great for us. Never a problem in the wind as some say they hear them flap.

Can always use the small beach ball under the topper on windy days.

Beach balls? No. Usually found for under $1.

Toppers vary by length but anywhere from $200 to $350. Plus install. Usually a dealer will install for free to close a deal. Your dealer might include install if you buy from them. Doesnt hurt to ask.

Just bought a 2017 Sunset Trail 290QB. I had them throw in a small tv and bracket in the bunk room. Wish I had thought about slide toppers!
