Are toppers manually retractable for say high winds? Any tricks of the trade to keep the water from pooling during a rain storm.

All I have seen are permanently attached to the side of the trailer and the slide.
You can place an inflatable toy (beach balls), between the top of the slide and the topper, to keep the water from pooling. This also helps with flapping in the wind.

Once toppers are installed the only way to bring them in are with the slides. Some people have also made a teepee out of 1/2" pvc that slides under the topper and sits on the top of the slide. I have had them for 16 yrs on 3 different trailers and had no problems. If they are adjusted right there is little pooling. You can lift the front of the yrailer up high enough for the water to run off or get on the roof with a broom prior to bring in the slides. Make sure to stand back when the slides come in if you have not removed the water first or you will get a bath
