Southern Illinois to Ft. Myers/Pine Island Florida

We're leaving on Jan. 24 early in the morning and staying for 2 weeks.

Going down 24 to Nashville, will need gas somewhere past there. I think I get on I75 around Chattanooga.

Then gas at Atlanta or sooner.

Then planning on spending the night at Valdosta. Possibly at the Camping World campground. And gas.

Get up the next morning. Gas at Tampa. Then hopefully pull in to Pine Island in the afternoon of the 25th, I can't check in until after 1 pm.

I'm thinking I need to leave real early as my progress may be less than I think, 665 miles to Valdosta. Anyone know about traffic problems getting through Nashville or Atlanta?

We hate going through Atlanta, usually east-west on I-20, which goes right through the center of town. Advise using one of the loop bypasses, and avoid rush hour! Plan your rest stops accordingly.

I would take I-65 from Nashville south through Birmingham, and on to Montgomery. From there, take a US Hwy south to I-10. I was on this road last month, and it is great. Rural AL is nice, too. You want to enjoy the road, without the white knuckles of Atlanta driving!

Ditto what Marty said, I65 out of Nashville thru Bham to Montgomery then us 231 thru Dothan. Continue s to I 10 east. Can head south on us 19 or continue to i75 s. All good 4 lane, mostly divided hays(the us hwys),
