New tow vehicle!
Yesterday we brought home our new truck, a Ford F250 Super Duty diesel. It has a crew cab and a long box. She drives like a dream but parks like a tank.

Thanks. As a diesel, I figure this will be the last truck we will ever buy. We are both seniors.

Looks pretty nice!
Do you think it will be able to find it's way to AK. and back?

Well, now that we have a bigger and stronger truck, we can buy a nice truck camper. The issue before was that every truck camper I liked was too big/heavy for our current truck. So now that excuse no longer holds water.
The trick now is to find the right truck camper that I can be happy with. We have about a year to find one.

"about a year..." Yes, aren't you the folks wanting a truck and truck camper to head to Alaska? Congrats, you've got the bottom half done! Good luck!

Thanks! We really like this truck a lot. Apparently if we add some kind of springs to it then it can carry the same weight as a one ton truck.
The hardest part will be finding a truck camper we will both be happy with - big enough to suit me and cheap enough to suit him! We will sell it after the trip, so it needs to be easy to sell as well.

Having owned 5 ford diesel since 2002, you got the best of the engines !
that 6.7 is a HOSS !!! and the tranny is even better - can be a manual when you want it to and with the engine engine brake I NEVER had to do brake pads on any of mine
You WILL need air bags and I would recommend getting the airlifts and their wiresless one in cab remote controller - worked great and nice to change the bags on the fly depenindg on the road conditions !!!
hope you have as good luck with it as I did with mine....
FYI have some accessories I don't need now that I've traded in my favorite truck on a motorhome !

I take it your new TV is an f250? Single rear wheels?
I don't know how big of a camper you think you need to make you happy, but if the new truck has SRW, you are still going to be limited.
I had an 821 Lance sitting on my old duramax 2500, with airbags, and it was all that truck wanted. Probably more then it should have had even.
We almost traded the truck for a dully so we could get the big Lance. Thankfully we came to our senses before that happened. We bought our present camper instead.
So, you might have to step back and make a few concessions on how big of a camper you think you need for this trip.
Remember, you're not going to live it all the time. Just sleep and eat.
For a trip like that, I know I would be willing give a little.
Just my musing on how I see things.

There have been a few online in the past few months that would have fit the bill. Some of the really heavy campers have several slide-outs. I don't need anything like that. My needs are simple. I want a bed that runs lengthwise, so one person does not have to climb over the other one to get in or out of bed. Those units also have more storage space. I want a bathroom with a shower. I also want storage space. You don't have to get a really big one for those parameters.
There are small campers that you don't need a really big truck for. There are the really big fancy campers that should have a dually. I want one in between. We do not want to own a dually.

You want a bath room with a shower? Good grief! There are a lot of lakes up there a person could wash up in.

You might have better luck getting a smaller TT. It would have what you want. Probably be easier to sell too.

I suggested that, but Hubby does not want an extra set of wheels to maintain. He is also not interested in a motor home of any kind for the same reason. What I want does exist, it's just a case of finding the right one. Now that we have a better truck, the choices will be greater.

Thanks. Hubby wants to know what accessories you have. He says he needs air lifts and tonneau cover.
