Suggestions for triple towing ATV trailer behind camper...
I’m thinking about “Triple towing” my small ATV trailer behind my 19ft tandem axle camper….being pulled by my ½ ton Dodge Ram Hem Quadcab. I hooked everything up and took it for a test run the other night…..towing it about 60mph on some side roads just to test it out. It seemed to pull just fine, except that any little wobble in the camper, would get the little atv trailer acting pretty sketchy…not dangerous, but definitely moving back and forth more than I would like. I tightened up the single sway control brake on the camper hitch as much as I could, and that made a really big improvement.
I went ahead and ordered another sway control brake since they are pretty cheap…but I’m wondering if I should put the second sway control brake between the truck and the camper to make it a dual brake setup…….or put it between the camper and the atv trailer. I’m thinking that as long as the camper doesn’t move, the atv trailer won’t move….so I’m probably better off to add the second sway control brake between the truck and the camper.
I’m assuming I want to have a decent amount of tongue weight on the ATV trailer? I’m planning on filling the fresh water tank in the front of the camper to compensate for the extra weight on the rear.
Thoughts? Ideas? Tips for triple towing?
Oh, and in MO this is legal with a bumper pull camper….as long as the total overall length isn’t over 55ft long….I’m around 50ft total.
