We have a Ford F350. The biggest reason is because I dislike the smell of diesel fuel/exhaust and the Ford offered a V10 gas. Also, I kinda like the look of a Ford better than the other two.

You are right about the mileage it is pretty consistant as you say with or without. We like it because it is roomy, comfy and has all we want in a vehicle. Looked at new but nothing really turned our cranks.
Enjoy your camping this coming year.

Well, I don't see much talk about GMC but I guess we must all put it in the Chevy class. I tell my grandkids; if they have a Ford or Chevy, they just have a pickup. If they want a TRUCK they need to get a GMC. One of my grandsons asked me if I knew what GMC stands for and I told him it was Guided Missile Cruiser (that was my ship in the Navy) and he said NO, it stands for Gay Man's Chevy. OOPs, not politically correct. I scolded him for it <grin>.

Tow Vehicle

I have a 07 Classic Chevy/Duramax/Allison. A great truck, currently have 153,000 on it. Only repair is one Glow Plug. I use it as my daily driver as well. Average about 17 around town (except winter) and 20 highway. Towing my 2013 30SK Cruiser Fifth Wheel I can average 12.5. I hope to have it for another 150,000 miles.

03 Silverado. 5.3 gas. 160,000 miles. I have replaced the battery, both front wheel bearing assemblies, and throttle body. It has been a great truck.

2011 Ford F150 with max tow package. Had a F350 for years but got tired of paying so much for diesel for my everyday driving. F150 tows just fine and is cheaper on fuel.

I tow with a 2005 Dodge Cummins 2500HD. Great truck. Before this one we towed with a 1993 Dodge Cummins. The current truck may very well be our last one.

You are so right.

I bought an F150 because the center rear seat had a head rest, the Ecoboost and I got a an incredible deal on a last year model.

I think the big three all make a great product, especially the Heavy Duty series. I always see 10-15-20 year old trucks at campgrounds looking and running great.

Toyota is getting much better for towing. Not seen much love the Nissan Titan though.

I was born and raised as a Chevy guy. The new Fords look nice but I can't break tradition. I'm looking for a new Chevy now.

I just sold my '12 chev 2500hd diesel...the colour (color) even matched the sunset trail....think I should have kept it. will have to grab another one ,maybe just a 1500 for this summer.
The 3/4 ton pulled like there was only a pop up behind it.

Token Nissan Guy checking in. If you need the enclosed cargo space and roof rack of a towing SUV, I don't think you can beat the Armada.

Our three previous Ford Excursions were pretty good in that 'covered wagon' scenario

but their comfort spoiled me for BIG-ness

so now it's a CCSB F350 platinum...

would not change a thing on the 6.7 deezle, the auto/manual 6 speed tranny, nor the power...

but all newer trucks are fine vehicles, especially if we can keep the gooberment epa idjuts out of there,
just get what will do the job for you.

I've owned all of the big 3 through the years, and my last three have all been Fords. IMHO they make the best interiors, which when you are them 50K plus a year as I am, makes a big difference.

I have a 2013 GMC 2500 CC/Z71/4x4,D-max with Allison A 32' Hill Country fifth wheel. Just got back from a 3500 mile round trip from central Texas to Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. I got 12 mpg running 71 mph in tow haul mode and cruise on. The exhaust brake was amazing while going down hills. I never use cruise control, but I had to on this trip to keep it under 75&80 mph.

Me too. However, after the bailout I swore my next truck would be a ford. It will be a little while before I buy again, so we will see.

2008 Toyota Sequoia 5.7 liter Limited with tow package. We feel our rig when towing but it goes stops and turns fine, no drama, not overworked. I wouldn't go bigger or heavier though, even if the numbers say it's ok.
