Would a short box (78.5 in.) work for a fifth wheel trailer? Do i have to worry about tight turns and trailer hitting cab?

I have a slider also, but don't always use it...just keep an eye on that TV back glass...but better to have and not need than vice versa...

Slider, just in case. (esp. an auto slider, like the Pullrite Superslide, where you don't have to get out and throw a lever.)

I Have a slider hitch with my shortbox but not needed it yet. Better to have one and not need it than to go without and end up in the situation where you should have had one. The newer profiles make the need for it very minimal but you never know.

I also have a slider with my short bed truck and have yet to use it in 2 years, but a pullrite would be nice so you don't have to worry about hitting your cab. My neighbor had one and really liked it, but he didn't like the weight of it. It takes two guys to take it in and out of the truck.

I will throw another option out there, a Sidewinder pin box. No need for a slider hitch.

Agree on weight, had to buy a hoist to lift it out of truck and put on a dolly to move around.

I just use my engine crane to lift out and put in my Reese Signature Slider - it's not a one man job. I have the underbed Reese mount on my Ford and like the flat bed - no rails.

Definitely get a slider hitch. You may not need it often, but they sure are handy if you're in a tight campground. Makes backing in a tight spot a cinch.

You can't use it if you don't have it! Lots of us have them and use very infrequently but do sometimes need a slider.
