I have my dealer consulting w/ Crossroads on if there is a fix for this -- when running either my bathroom exhaust fan (the basic one, it's not a Fantastic Fan), or sometimes my stovetop fan, on my 2010 Cruiser 5er CF31RE, it alwayscausesinterference when trying to watch an HDTV over-the-air signal ontherear HDTV.Doesn't seem to matter how close we are to the signal source.
Just wondering if this is a widespread issue. Maybe there was an incremental fix since the 2010 model year? Probablyneeds to be a filter to isolate the TV power.
Thanks!
Scott

Mine does the same thing on the TV nearest the high speed fan we have. I'm thinking it's a side effect of manufacturers running power/12v/cable lines together through "runs" in the walls and ceilings. My thought is a shielding issue. On mine it's only certian weaker channels and doesn't affect the rear TV only the one nearest the fan.
Let me know what they say.

Mine does it as well. I believe it is the cheap 12v motors that are used in these devices. They will create RF energy when run. For those older folks (like me) it's the same thing we used to get from car generators when listening to AM radio stations.

We bought a small table top fan for our bedroom and I finally figured out why I was getting a scattered digital picture on the TV when using over the air signals. Turning off that 110 volt fan eliminated the problem. Has no effect on the DirecTV signal or picture.

I would suggest a filter for the attenna bost (12v dc) It sounds like back feed on the 12v line but it could be a radio signal from the fan motor.

Ours does the same thing to the MB TV. We live with it for the short time the stool room fan is on. The stove top fan and Fantastic fan have no issue on any TV.

Thanks for everyone's feedback and input -- I'll post when I found out if the dealer has a fix.

With over 40 years in the TV and Two Way Radio business, I'm very familiar with electrical interference. From what I've read; the issue is definitely a "broadcast" issue unless you still get the interference when hooked to cable TV. The fans are producing static from arcing in the motor and this is being received by the TV antenna and coming into the tuner. I don't know of any filtering that will eliminate this since it is not coming into the power line. Technically, there could be a filter designed to block that specific band of frequencies from the antenna lead but I don't know of any made and, if the frequency falls within the TV Broadcast band (and it sounds as if it does) you would also block the TV signal. The best filter is the forefinger and thumb; turn off the fan.

Well, my dealer consulted with Crossroads RV on this issue, and the recommendation is a Coax Video Filter Box which can be acquired at Radio Shack, etc.As the season is over, I intend to purchase and install this next spring; we shall see! Thanks for all of your input.

This filter worked and eliminated this interference, the part # was a little different but it is a simple black filter about the same price, thanks!

That filter made no difference for me. Turn on the bathroom fan and the TV goes out!

The two fan motors are cheap brush type DC motors and are inherently noisy. As they are running, the brushes produce microsparks that will get into the DC power system. Besides being noisy electrically, they made a lot of sound noise. I'm going to replace the cooktop hood fan motor with a computer fan motor. They are brushless motors and are much quieter too boot.

We have no issues with a 110V fan I run, but the 12V vent fan creates static. Our SAT TV receiveris not HD, but still get fuzz in the picture
