I remember you guys told me there is a better way. Was it going right on 250 Einstead of left onto 250W and then getting on 64 at the bottom of the mountain instead? I am not as worried with the diesel about the mountain but if there is a better way I'd probably rather do that. Thanks

But you have a TRUCK now...be adventurous!

Steve has requested shrimp, so we'll be bringing that for Friday night too.
Also, Aileen, our 10-year-old will be with us this year, so we'll just let HIM run after your daughter

Aileen....you now own a Ford...PSD....the mtn grade on 250 should be no problem....we can take our Monty up there at 60 if we want..just give it some fuel...it is only a 3 mile grade Instead of a 7 mile grade on I64....and the tow command feature will take you down slowly if you want...we come down the 250 grade around 35 -40 mph with very minor braking necessary....usually just top the grade at the speed you want and it takes us down nice and holds close to that speed....so...enjoy your new rocket ship of a truck....just remember speeding is a violation in Virginia...lol....

DO NOT take rt 6 up the mtn..it is crooked etc...stay on 6/151 until you must turn either right or left on 250.....we turn left and go up the mtn....your choice....FYI...we are grossing basically 23.5k with our rig...you should have no problem whatsoever....be safe and see you next weekend.Edited by: sola123

Thanks stan, I just remember coming in from that left turn last year with the armada. We made it up ok, it was coming home that was scary for us. I know I have a better truck now, I just still have that fear from the last trip. I towed the TT today in the rain to it's new home and this truck just loves to do it's job.

Sprucin' up the Cruiser for the trip. New front decal lookin' good but it may be chilly so gotta' work on the furnace!

Way too much food mentioned already but Sarah is mumbling about mini-reubens for the wine event (never had sauerkraut with wine--always a first! Fruit and egg caserole for B-fast, with black bean salad, bannana pudding, and ice cream for din-din. Made a couple of gallons today.

Not much experience but here's a video onRV handling tips that might help if you study em' before heading to Endless Caverns:

(sorry: couldn't make it a hyperlink--you'll have to cut and paste it)

Ken- thanks for the link that was cute. I needed the laugh as that is what it felt like driving with the old armada (and that is with 20yrs experience of towing horse trailers). Now I have a stout truck and can enjoy towing again, I just have a fear of that one hill I got pushed down coming home from endless caverns last year. I'm sure the fear will go away as soon as I tackle it w/ thediesel but until then it will be time for some deep breaths.

As for the video, the tree on top of the car reminds me of when they used a soda bottle on the floor to teach me how to tow. The goal was to not tip the soda bottle over the entire time I drove. As you can imagine, when it was all said and done, I learned how to tow nice and smooth (I have arrived at campgrounds w/ water bottles still in place on the counter where I forgot to remove them). Last minute tweek to menus:

Rice pudding instead of apple crisp for Saturdays dinner. Chicken cullets are still on the menu.

An assortment of greek cheeses and hard salami along with some greek apetizers for wine and cheese get together.

I think that will be it for the tweeking-at least I hope!

I am pretty sure Deb is making a spinach/strawberry salad for Saturday also. I am aslo thinking about baked butternut squash and apples. But maybe I'll do that on Friday for any of us gathering informally.

yeah, Rick, I am counting it down too. It has been 2 and a half long months since our last camping trip. To say I am dying to go out would be an under statement. We should be there arounddinner time on thurs. My parents are driving down from just north of Baltimore to watch DDfor a couple of days (Less school for her to miss) and then bringing her to us on sat. They will spend sat night with us and then head home on sun. Long story short, we will head up after they arrive early thurs afternoon (they should be here between 12 and 2 so we should be there between 5 and 8).

I am hoping to be there by 7. If I can sneak out early I will be there earlier. It would be nice to set up before dark.
