Slide stands or not????
So I bought a 29MK this fall and the first thing is the dealer PDI's are crap!
Anyway I have a relative that worked for MrRV in Saskatoon, CA. He instantly tells me I need Slide stands under my slides. I watch numerous you tube reviews and everyone one of them say the walls are designed to hold the slides.
I'm asking if anyone uses them or are they just another money grab. And I already know about sinking and causing problems when the trailer settles more and the slide stands.
Just looking to everyone's take on the extra support.

Never have used them. Never seen anyone else use them either.

Perfect! I mainly camp off grid or boondock as many call it. I see my camper settle and I can only imagine what kind of damage 2-3 inches settling would do.
now I can get on with mods and improvements.

NO SLIDE STANDS! They could possibly do more damage than not having them.

The PDI is only as good as you make the dealer do it.
Some will try and slip by with next to nothing, and the next one might give a very through PDI.
But, it's pretty much up to the buyer to go there with a PDI list in hand, and make them go thru it with you.

If you are going to be set up on a concrete pad permanently then maybe but otherwise no on the stands. The slide is sealed by the way it fits in the sidewall so to tight on the stands you will have a leak and too loose then they are doing nothing. I also agree that the PDI is only as good as you make it. If you don't ask them what something is or how it works they may assume that you already know. With the exploding sales of campers they may have 10 or more to deliver that day so they want you out as fast as possible.
With all that said Welcome
If you have any more questions please feel free to ask
There are some good folks here ready to help.

I use the stands but only when the rv is on a concrete pad. My CR manual advises to use the stands under the slide.

Whether on concrete of other solid surface if a tire looses air, jacks/landing gear fails or stabilizers break you will have done serious damage before you will have noticed.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure it was a bad idea. I usually never camp on a pad of any kind
But I do listen to this particular relative. He spent a few years working in the rv industry.
I will not be buy the stands just simply because of the settling issues.

Interesting thread.
I have slide stands, but have not used them in a long time. Never did see any difference in stability.
Now, I can take them out of the storage bay and have room to put some more junk.
